Spotted vegetable weevil
Steriphus diversipes
Larvae are white, legless, with orange - brown heads and up to 6 mm long. Adults, are mottled grey - black weevils approximately 5 mm long with the typical weevil snout.
Damage: Larvae feed underground on the germinating cereal seed and stem, often killing plants or causing abnormal and stunted growth. Adults chew canola cotyledons, leaves and stems and may eat small plants down to ground level.
