GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

Abaken 18 Insecticide/Miticide is effective for controlling pest mites on pears, apples, tomatoes, citrus, hops, strawberries, and ornamentals. It is also suitable for controlling pest mites and native budworm on cotton. For detailed directions and product constraints, refer to the accompanying leaflet.

After application, Abaken 18 quickly moves into the leaves, remaining for several weeks and being taken up by sucking insects. Good coverage is essential as Abamectin is not systemic. Any Abamectin not absorbed into the plant degrades quickly.

INSECTICIDE RESISTANCE WARNING

Abaken 18 Insecticide-Miticide is a Group 6 insecticide for insecticide resistance management. Some insect biotypes may be naturally resistant, and repeated use of Abaken 18 or other Group 6 insecticides can lead to resistant individuals dominating the population. Detection of resistant individuals before Abaken 18 use is challenging, and Kenso Agcare Pty Ltd accepts no liability for losses due to failure in controlling resistant insects.

For specific resistance management strategies, contact your local supplier, Kenso Agcare Pty Ltd representative, or local agricultural department agronomist.

CROP MONITORING

Effective control depends on regular monitoring of crops. Check crops every 3-5 days during the season.

APPLICATION ON COTTON

Air: Apply by air spray with a reliable crosswind for penetration into the crop canopy. Application should be in cooler parts of the day or night, preferably using aircraft fitted with Micronair atomizers.

Ground: Use inter-row droppers with nozzles spraying toward cotton rows. Nozzles should be level with or just below the canopy, spraying at right angles to the ground.

MIXING

Measure the required amount of Abaken 18 and add to the partly filled spray tank, then add the remainder of the water. If oil is recommended, add it after Abaken 18 is well mixed. Wetting agent is not required.

Abaken 18 plus Summer Oil may occasionally cause slight russeting on some pear varieties. Do not apply before or after applications of Delan or Kenso Agcare Captan 800 WG. Follow summer oil label instructions carefully.

Certain conditions may contribute to damage. Do not apply when unusually hot conditions are present or expected within 24 hours, under poor drying conditions, or with equipment leaving large droplets on fruit after application.

For Citrus Applications: Ensure thorough spray coverage for effectiveness. Use a properly calibrated sprayer for even distribution at the correct volume, applying the same quantity of Abaken 18 per hectare for dilute or concentrate spraying methods.

Dilute Spraying: Use a sprayer designed for high water volumes, setting up for even coverage throughout the crop canopy. Apply water to cover the crop to the point of runoff. Add the required amount of Abaken 18 and spray to the point of runoff.

Concentrate Spraying: Use a sprayer set up for concentrate spraying, ensuring good coverage. Determine appropriate dilute spray volume, calculate the concentrate mixing rate, and adjust as the crop grows. Refer to industry guidelines, competency training, and best practices for concentrate spraying.
