GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

Disease control in Canola - Blackleg:

  • Higher risk in districts with over 500 mm annual rainfall, within 500 m of previous year’s stubble, or in later-sown crops.
  • Factors affecting risk include variety susceptibility, canola cropping intensity, rainfall before sowing, and frequency of growing the same variety.
  • Up to two sprays of Aviator Xpro allowed per season.

Disease control in Canola - Blackleg Upper Canopy Infection (UCI):

  • Blackleg UCI affects flowers, heads, pods, main stem, and branches in the upper canopy.
  • Crops flowering in July and early August are more susceptible.
  • Control practices include using cultivars with major gene resistance and managing the crop to delay early flowering.
  • Aviator Xpro most effective when applied before significant disease expression at 10-30% bloom.
  • Generally, a single application suffices, but two sprays may be needed in high disease pressure situations.
  • Up to two sprays of Aviator Xpro allowed per season.

Disease control in Canola - Sclerotinia:

  • Aviator Xpro effective when applied before conditions conducive to sclerotinia infection.
  • Most conducive in warmer winter or spring conditions with extended leaf wetness periods.
  • Sclerotinia stem infection likely with high moisture during flowering.
  • Control more effective in crops with uniform flowering.
  • Single application at 20 to 30% flowering may suffice; second application may be needed in extended flowering periods.
  • Length of protection may be reduced in bulky crops.
  • Optimum coverage on petals, leaves, and stems for effectiveness.

Disease Suppression in Canola - Alternaria Blackspot (Pod Infection):

  • Alternaria common in canola; more likely in mid-flowering onwards.
  • Onset favored by mild, humid conditions; severe infections may cause premature ripening and pod shattering.
  • Suppression with Aviator Xpro at 50% bloom growth stage.

Disease Suppression in Canola - Powdery Mildew:

  • Powdery mildew sporadic, post-flowering, affecting all plant parts.
  • Dry conditions with moderate temperatures and cool nights favor infection.
  • Aviator Xpro most effective when applied before significant disease expression at 30% bloom.
  • Generally, a single application may suffice, but two sprays may be needed in high disease pressure situations.
  • Up to two sprays of Aviator Xpro allowed per season.

Crop Safety - Canola:

  • Minor bleaching possible when applied early in crop growth (4 to 6 leaf stage).
  • Generally negligible effects on crop grain yield.

Disease Control in Cereals:

  • Monitor regularly for disease symptoms.
  • Generally spray at the first sign of disease, focusing on the top three leaves in wheat (and barley).
  • Aviator Xpro may be applied up to two times per season.

Disease Control in Pulse Crops:

  • Effective when applied before an infection event and before disease becomes established.
  • Monitor and apply at the first sign of disease infection.
  • Under high disease risk, more than two fungicide sprays may be needed.

Crop Safety - Pulse Crops:

  • Slight discoloration or necrosis may occur but generally negligible effects on grain yield.

Mixing:

  • EC formulations may strip residues from equipment; clean thoroughly before applying to sensitive crops.

Warning:

  • Rubber/composite components may be affected; wash with clean water immediately after each use.

Application:

  • Ground application: Minimum spray volume and MEDIUM spray quality for barley, canola, wheat, faba beans, field peas, and lentils.
  • Aerial application: Minimum spray volume and MEDIUM spray quality.
