GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

RESISTANT WEEDS WARNING

Beam 750 WG Herbicide belongs to the isoxazole group of herbicides and inhibits the 4-hydroxyphenyl-pyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD’s) mode of action. Classified as a Group H herbicide, it is essential to manage weed resistance as naturally occurring weed biotypes may develop resistance through genetic variability.

Crop Safety

Chickpeas:

  • Application in sandy or gravelly soils, or those low in clay or organic matter, may result in crop damage.
  • Heavy rains post-application, particularly in such soils, can cause crop damage.
  • Avoid using on the chickpea variety Yorker, as it may result in unacceptable damage and yield loss.
  • For crop rotation, it is recommended to apply to chickpea crops or fallow land. Specific instructions apply to crops other than chickpeas.
  • Conditions such as prolonged dry periods, cold weather, heavy rainfall after a dry spell, and low soil pH may impact recropping intervals.
  • Cultivation before recropping is advised.
  • Minimum recropping intervals apply for all crops post Beam 750 WG application.

Sugarcane:

  1. Do not apply to soils with low binding potential (C.E.C. below 4.5 m eq/100 g or O.C. of 1.0% or less).
  2. Avoid applying to areas with poor drainage or root development.
  3. Add paraquat to minimize foliar uptake when using as a broadcast spray on plant cane.
  4. Check soil conditions and C.E.C. levels before use.
  5. Do not use on newly limed soil without consulting local representatives.
  6. Field-tested on major sugarcane varieties without evidence of varietal tolerance variation.

Mixing:

  • Partially fill the spray tank with water, start agitation, add the correct amount of Beam 750 WG, and continue agitation while topping up the tank.
  • When tank-mixing with paraquat, add Beam 750 WG first, followed by paraquat.
  • Use the prepared spray mixture on the day of preparation; do not let it stand overnight.

Application:

  • Beam 750 WG can be applied to hot and dry soils without sunlight breakdown, activated by rainfall or irrigation.
  • Deep germinating weeds may not be adequately controlled in low rainfall years.
  • Best results are achieved when rainfall or low-pressure overhead irrigation carries the herbicide downward evenly.
  • Avoid flood irrigation or high-pressure water cannons causing excessive soil movement.
  • In sugarcane, apply in a minimum spray volume of 250 L/ha using flat fan nozzles with a medium to coarse droplet size.

Compatibility:

  • Beam 750 WG may be tank-mixed with paraquat, diuron, atrazine, and Actil DS under specified conditions.

Spray Equipment Clean-Up:

  • After use, empty the tank, thoroughly wash the inside with a pressure hose, and drain the system.
  • Rinse the system twice, decontaminate by adding liquid alkali detergent or chlorine bleach, and flush with clean water.

Disposal:

  • Drainage and rinse water should be discharged into a designated disposal area or onto unused land away from desirable plants and watercourses.
