DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Target Pest:

• Cotton Bollworm (Helicoverpa armigera)
• Native Budworm (Helicoverpa punctigera)

Cotton Varieties:

• Cotton containing the Bollgard II technology expressing Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki delta endotoxin proteins.

Conditions for Use:

• Intended for use in the cotton production areas of Australia as specified in the endorsed Resistance Management plan for each geographic area.
• Cotton containing the Bollgard II technology must be grown following the directions and conditions outlined in the current Bollgard II Technology User Agreement. Growers are required to read the agreement before planting.

Control Measures:

• The Bollgard II technology provides significant protection against Cotton Bollworm and Native Budworm.
• Supplemental insecticide control may be necessary under conditions of high pest pressure or high plant stress.
• Regular monitoring of crops is essential, and insecticide treatments should be applied if needed.
• Recommendations from the Australian Cotton Research Institute may be used as a guide for treatment thresholds.
• Insecticide selection should adhere to the Insecticide Resistance Management Strategy for Conventional Cotton for the current year.
• Optimal efficacy is achieved by managing crops and inputs to avoid plant stress. Note that small larvae may be observed in the crop, as they must feed before being controlled by the Bollgard II technology.

Resistance Management:

• Growers must follow the 'Resistance Management Plan for Bollgard II Cotton' for the current year, as detailed in the Bollgard II Technology User Agreement.
• Preventative resistance management aims to keep Helicoverpa resistance to non-detectable levels to extend the benefits of Bollgard II cotton.
• Separate plans may apply in different geographic regions, and growers should obtain the current year Plan from any Technology Service Provider or Monsanto.

Crop Management:

• Select a Bollgard II cotton variety suitable for the local area.
• Implement best agronomic and crop management practices.
• Manage agronomic inputs to avoid plant stress and achieve early plant maturity.
• Follow integrated pest management principles and adopt practices minimizing pest incidence.

• Bollgard II technology is protected under licensee in Australia of Patent Nos 638438 and 762748.

• Any unauthorized use that contravenes the Agreement may result in claims of patent infringement and/or breach of Agreement.
