GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:

All applications:

  • To reduce the incidence of "fines," use correct nozzles and operating pressures. Regularly replace worn or old nozzles and calibrate equipment.

Fallow application:

  • Imazapic can be applied in fallow before planting various crops, as outlined in the Follow Crops table.
  • Imazapic, a pre-emergence herbicide, provides short-term (6 to 12 weeks) control of summer germinating grasses and broadleaved weeds in cultivated or uncultivated fallow.
  • A green weed cover exceeding 50% significantly reduces pre-emergence weed control duration.

Sugarcane application:

  • Pre-emergence:

    • Apply to soil two days before incorporation.
    • Incorporate with adequate irrigation or rainfall (minimum depth of 5cm).
    • Apply to plant or ratoon cane before emergence.
    • In moist conditions, allow weeds to germinate before application, mixed with an appropriate knockdown herbicide.
  • Post-emergence:

    • Mix Imazapic with registered rates of paraquat.
    • Apply as a carefully directed inter-row spray to weeds and at the base of sugarcane stalks, minimizing spray contact with sugarcane foliage.
    • DO NOT add crop oil to this mixture; other surfactants or adjuvants are not required.

Peanut application:

  • Pre-emergence:

    • Apply to soil and incorporate with adequate irrigation or rainfall to a minimum depth of 5 cm.
  • Post-emergence:

    • Mix Imazapic with an adjuvant as directed in the DIRECTIONS FOR USE section of the label.

SOIL TYPE:

  • Pre-emergence weed control with Imazapic may be limited on soils with pH <5.0 and/or high concentrations of iron (Fe) and/or aluminum (Al), common in soil types like Krasnozems and red-brown Ferrosols.

MIXING:

  • Imazapic is an aqueous solution; fill the spray tank with water, add the required product amount, and fill the tank with water.
  • When tank-mixing, add other products first, mix thoroughly, and then add Imazapic. For post-emergence applications in peanuts, add adjuvant after Imazapic.
  • No adjuvants or surfactants are required when Imazapic is used alone for pre-emergence weed control or with paraquat.
  • DO NOT add crop oil when applied post-emergence with paraquat.

APPLICATION:

  • DO NOT apply by aircraft.
  • Fallow application: Use boom equipment with flat fan nozzles in not less than 50 L/ha water. Avoid overlap and do not overspray headlands.
  • Sugarcane: Ensure thorough coverage of soil and weeds. Apply in a minimum of 200 L water/ha using a medium to coarse spray pattern for pre-emergence and a medium spray pattern for post-emergence.
  • Peanuts: Apply with boom equipment in not less than 50 L/ha water using flat fan nozzles. Avoid overlap, and for post-emergence applications, apply a minimum of two hours before rainfall.

EQUIPMENT CLEAN-UP:

  • Thoroughly flush all spray equipment with water after using Imazapic and before using other products.

COMPATIBILITY:

  • Imazapic is compatible with Pendimethalin, atrazine, glyphosate, paraquat, paraquat+diquat, Metsulfuron-methyl, Triclopyr, Touchdown*, and 2,4-D. It is NOT compatible with Dicamba.
