GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

Overview:
Caimen 30 GR is a short residual, water-applied herbicide in granular formulation designed for controlling certain grass weeds in direct-seeded rice crops. It's absorbed through both roots and foliage, moving upward and outward to the leaf.

Symptoms:
The active constituent, clomazone, inhibits chlorophyll and carotenoid biosynthesis, leading to chlorosis followed by necrosis in susceptible plants. Transient bleaching of rice seedlings may occur, especially at higher rates or under stress conditions.

Rice Safety:
Bleaching of rice seedlings, particularly the Illabong variety, may occur, but recovery is usually rapid. Sod- or combine-sown rice is more susceptible to bleaching, especially under cold, deep water conditions.

Compatibility:
Caimen 30 GR can be applied in sequence with other rice herbicides and insecticides.

Resistance Weeds Warning:
Belongs to the Isoxazolidinone group (Group Q Herbicide). Weed resistance may develop if used repeatedly. Monitoring for resistant weeds is crucial.

Application:
Granules can be applied as a full blanket treatment (100% cover) to the water surface or down to a minimum fifty percent cover treatment (50% cover) as a double rate on alternate swaths. Apply granules by aircraft fitted with a spreader calibrated for the correct rate per hectare. Granules do not need to be applied right to the bay's edges due to clomazone's solubility and redistribution in water.

Water Management:
Lock up bays before application to cease water movement. Prevent water movement for at least 3 days after treatment. Flood water must cover all ground to maintain water cover until water can be added after the 3-day period. Do not drain rice water into regional drains within the withholding period.

Protection of Crops, Native and Other Non-Targeted Plants:
Off-target whitening may occur if incorrectly applied, causing whitening of trees, shrubs, ornamentals, crops, vines, and fruits. Take precautions to minimize off-target whitening, such as using calibrated equipment, applying directly to water surfaces, shutting off the spreader applicator at all other times, avoiding application to soil surfaces, and avoiding emptying or cleaning equipment near sensitive plants.

Protection of Wildlife, Fish, Crustaceans, and Environment:
Prevent contamination of streams, rivers, or waterways with Caimen 30 GR or used containers. Do not drain rice water into regional drains within the withholding period.
