GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:

CHOICE CLODINAFOP 240 EC Selective Herbicide Overview:

  • Apply only when weeds are actively growing.

RESISTANT WEEDS:

  • Choice Clodinafop 240 EC is a member of the aryloxyphenoxypropionate (“fop”) group of herbicides with the inhibition of fat (lipid) synthesis mode of action.
  • Group A herbicide for weed resistance management.
  • Naturally-occurring resistant weed biotypes may exist, and repeated use may lead to dominance by resistant weeds.
  • Resistance is challenging to detect before use; CHOICE Australia accepts no liability for losses due to failure in controlling resistant weeds.
  • Weed biotypes resistant to diclofop-methyl and other “grass-specific” herbicides may also resist CHOICE CLODINAFOP 240 EC.
  • Conduct a resistance test before using on populations resistant to “grass-specific” herbicides.
  • Healthy surviving weeds may indicate resistance; efforts to prevent seed set are crucial.
  • Limit to one application of a Group A herbicide with the inhibition of fat (lipid) synthesis mode-of-action per crop in a season.
  • If resistance is suspected, do not use CHOICE CLODINAFOP 240 EC; incorporate strategies into Integrated Weed Management (IWM) Program.

MIXING:

  • Fill the spray tank to one quarter full.
  • Add Choice Clodinafop 240 EC while adding water to make up the final spray volume.
  • Good agitation ensures proper mixing.
  • Add D-C-Trate*, Hasten*, or Uptake* oil just before the tank is full and with agitators in motion.
  • Follow the correct mixing order to avoid reactions between products.

MINIMUM OIL VOLUMES:

  • Minimum oil volumes depend on the type of oil used.
  • When applying with low water volumes, adhere to the minimum oil volumes specified for each oil type.

CLEANING SPRAY EQUIPMENT:

  • After use, empty the tank completely and drain the whole system.
  • Wash inside the tank with a pressure hose and clean filters in the tank, pump, line, and nozzles.
  • Rinse the system with clean water and, for sensitive crops, use a liquid alkali detergent to decontaminate.

APPLICATION:

Ground Application:

  • Boom spray with flat fan nozzles.
  • Ensure good spray coverage.
  • Apply using 50 to 110 L water per hectare.
  • Ideal droplet size is 200 to 300 microns VMD.

Aircraft Application:

  • Use 20 to 30 L water per hectare.
  • Spray at 2 m to 3 m above the crop.
  • Ideal droplet size is 250 to 350 microns VMD.
  • Adjust equipment for droplet size and avoid application in high winds.

COMPATIBILITY:

  • Use recommended oil when applied with compatible herbicides.
  • Use a 100% non-ionic surfactant when mixing with diflufenican based products.
  • Compatible with some grass and broadleaf herbicides; check with reseller or Grow Choice Pty Ltd for latest information.
  • Incompatible with Diuron, Triasulfuron, Barrel* (bromoxynil + dicamba + MCPA), and all 2,4-D formulations.

PRECAUTIONS:

Re-entry Period:

  • Do not enter treated areas without protective clothing until the spray has dried.

PROTECTION OF CROPS, NATIVE, AND OTHER NON-TARGET PLANTS:

  • Do not apply on or near shrubs, trees, lawns, or crops other than wheat.
  • Avoid draining or flushing equipment near desirable plants.
  • Prevent spray drift onto nearby susceptible plants, adjacent crops, or pastures.

PROTECTION OF WILDLIFE, FISH, CRUSTACEANS, AND ENVIRONMENT:

  • Do not apply to irrigation drains or channels.
  • Avoid contamination of dams, streams, creeks, and rivers with the chemical, spray mixture, used containers, or equipment washings.
