GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Mite Control Strategy:
- Limit application to once per season (or year for ornamentals) to prevent mite resistance.
- For orchards with European red mite issues, recommend a green tip spray of dormant oil for winter egg control, followed by Apollo as directed.
- Apollo has no adverse effects on predatory mites and can be part of an Integrated Pest Management program.
- Tank-mix Apollo with a registered knockdown miticide in bananas, hops, and ornamentals as a resistance management strategy.
Resistance Warning:
- Cobra is a Group 4A insecticide.
- Warns of naturally occurring insect biotypes resistant to Cobra and other Group 4A insecticides.
- Overuse may lead to resistant individuals dominating the insect population, reducing Cobra's effectiveness.
- Difficult to detect resistant individuals before use; no liability for losses due to Cobra's failure to control resistant insects.
Export Considerations:
- Check with Colin Campbell (Chemicals) Pty Ltd for the latest information on Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) and export tolerances before using Cobra for fruit intended for export.
Mixing / Application:
- Shake container vigorously before pouring.
- Add Cobra 480SC to water in the spray vat while stirring or with agitators in motion.
Dilute Spraying:
- Use a sprayer designed for high water volumes.
- Achieve even coverage throughout the crop canopy, applying sufficient water to cover the crop to the point of run-off.
- Determine water volume using industry guidelines or expert advice.
- Add the specified amount of Cobra per 100L of water and spray to the point of run-off.
- Adjust spray volume and operation as the crop grows.
Concentrate Spraying:
- Use a sprayer designed for concentrate spraying.
- Achieve even coverage throughout the crop canopy with the chosen water volume.
- Determine dilute spray volume for the crop canopy to calculate the concentrate mixing rate.
- Calculate mixing rate using the concentration factor.
- Example: Dilute spray volume 1500L/ha, concentrate spray volume 500L/ha, concentration factor 3.
- Dilute label rate 40mL/100L, concentrate rate becomes 3 x 40, i.e., 120mL/100L of concentrate spray.
- Adjust spray volume, product amount, and sprayer setup as the crop grows.
Minimizing Spray Drift:
- Use large droplets (>150 microns) to minimize spray drift onto adjoining pasture.
- Higher pressure increases spray drift potential; use high-capacity nozzles instead of increasing pressure.
- Avoid spraying in no wind or strong wind conditions and hot dry weather.
- Avoid excessive spray above trees and turn off outward-pointing nozzles at end rows.
Re-entry and Livestock Protection:
- Do not allow entry until the spray has dried.
- Wear protective clothing for re-entry if necessary.
- Assess the treatment area for potential spray drift onto grazing pasture.
- Minimize drift onto adjoining properties or stock areas.
- Seek advice from Colin Campbell (Chemicals) Pty Ltd if spray drift may affect areas used for grazing by livestock.
- Cobra presents a low hazard to bees; avoid application when bees are actively foraging.
Protection of Wildlife, Fish, Crustaceans, and Environment:
- Very toxic to aquatic invertebrates; avoid contamination of streams, rivers, or waterways.
- Cobra may have adverse effects on non-target insects or arthropods; contact Colin Campbell (Chemicals) Pty Ltd for information.
- Do not spray under conditions causing drift onto nearby areas, especially wetlands, waterbodies, or watercourses.
- Do not spray within 40 meters upwind of wetlands, waterbodies, or watercourses.
- Avoid application if heavy rains are expected within 24 hours.
Storage and Disposal:
- Store in a closed, original container in a cool, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight.
- Triple-rinse containers before disposal and add rinsings to the spray tank.
- Do not dispose of undiluted chemicals on-site.
- Follow recycling or burial procedures in compliance with local regulations.
- Do not burn empty containers or product.
