GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Overview:
- CRONOS 440EC Herbicide is a selective herbicide effective against most annual grasses and certain broadleaf weeds.
- Controls weeds by inhibiting seedling development; not effective on established weeds.
- Optimal results require weed-free seedbeds at the time of application.
Pre-application Recommendations:
- Seedbeds should be free of weeds, trash, and clods.
- Soils with over 6% organic matter may result in poor control; avoid application in such soils.
- Crop injury may occur in cold, wet weather after planting; crops usually recover with favorable growing conditions.
Staining Warning:
- CRONOS 440EC will stain (yellow) any objects it contacts.
- Keep non-target objects clear of the product and spray.
MIXING:
- When using CRONOS 440EC alone, add it to partially filled tank after starting agitation.
- For tank mixes, mix other products first as indicated on the label, add CRONOS 440EC last, and complete filling the tank.
- Maintain agitation until spraying is completed; re-suspend mixture if settling occurs.
APPLICATION METHOD:
-
Ground Application:
- Use conventional sprayers with mechanical or bypass agitation.
- Flat fan nozzles recommended.
- Spray equipment calibration is crucial for proper application.
- Recommended application: 50-200 liters of water per hectare.
-
Aerial Application:
- Suitable for pre-plant soybeans, cotton, sunflowers, peanuts, and more.
- Apply in 25-60 liters of water per hectare.
- Equipment calibration is critical, and an even spray pattern should be maintained.
- Do not apply if wind speed exceeds 16 km/hour; follow recommended flying practices.
Incorporation:
- CRONOS 440EC works best when mixed with soil mechanically, by irrigation, or rainfall.
- Adequate rainfall or irrigation (7-10 days after treatment) is crucial for incorporation.
- Light mechanical incorporation is needed if no rain is received within 7-10 days, except for maize, carrots, and rice.
- Maize, carrots, and rice are tolerant if seed germinates below the chemically treated band but intolerant if in direct contact with the seed.
Cereal Seed Dressings:
- Seed dressings affecting coleoptile length may impact emergence; maintain good seed depth control.
- Consult local Department of Agriculture Agronomist for advice.
Weather Conditions at Planting:
- Crop injury may occur in cold weather after planting; crops usually recover with warmer conditions.
- Prolonged cold, wet conditions during germination can affect emergence in cereals.
RESISTANT WEED WARNING:
- CRONOS 440EC belongs to the dinitroaniline group (Group D herbicide).
- Weed resistance may occur with repeated use; resistant weeds will not be controlled.
- Detection of resistant weeds is challenging before use; no liability for losses due to failure in controlling resistant weeds.
COMPATIBILITY:
- Physically compatible with specified herbicides; follow mixing directions.
FOLLOWING CROPS:
- In the event of crop failure, cultivate soil to a minimum depth of 15cm for even residue dispersion.
- In case of maize crop failure, replanting is possible within the same year with seeding depth below the retilled area.
