GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

Eliminate Herbicide contains 750 g/kg sulfometuron-methyl in a water dispersible granule (WG). It is a soil residual herbicide with some knockdown action, providing control of susceptible weeds through both post-emergence and pre-emergence (residual) action. Application is recommended before or during the early stages of weed growth for optimal results.

Adequate soil moisture is essential for the activation of Eliminate Herbicide to ensure optimum weed control. However, under limited rainfall conditions, it may not provide satisfactory control of hard-to-kill annuals and perennial weeds.

The higher use rates of Eliminate Herbicide result in longer-term residual control, and the degree of control varies with factors such as the rate of application, soil texture, organic matter content, soil pH, rainfall, and other environmental conditions.

As soil pH increases, the breakdown rate of Eliminate Herbicide decreases, providing longest-term residual control on alkaline soils. Conversely, higher soil moisture accelerates the breakdown rate, making low rainfall conditions ideal for longest-term residual control. Additionally, higher organic matter content in soil increases the breakdown rate, favoring longest-term residual control in low organic matter soils.

Avoid using Eliminate Herbicide on soils with low pH, as it may lead to tree stunting or death. Caution is advised when applying to soils previously treated with lime fertilizer, as it can increase surface pH, potentially causing tree stunting or death.

FORESTRY

  • Do not apply to alkaline soils (pH >7) or leached, sandy soils with low organic matter.
  • Avoid application to poorly drained, gravel, rocky soils, or exposed subsoils.
  • Not suitable for areas where seed is directly sown into treated areas.
  • Do not broadcast apply to uncultivated or non-mounded bare ground on slopes exceeding 30%.

TREE TOLERANCE

Eucalyptus globulus, E. nitens, and Pinus radiata are tolerant to Eliminate Herbicide, but tree stunting may occur. Stunting is typically short-lived, and trees usually recover in the next growing season. Factors such as prolonged dry periods, pH, organic matter, and rate selection influence stunting, emphasizing the need for appropriate rate selection based on soil and other conditions.

TRANSPLANTING (PLANT BACK PERIOD)

  • Transplant seedlings should be healthy, at least 20 cm in height, and showing good vigor.
  • Avoid transplanting smaller or unhealthy seedlings into Eliminate Herbicide-treated areas.
  • Adequate moisture is crucial for incorporation into the soil and root absorption.
  • Best results are achieved on bare, moist, well-cultivated soils with warm temperatures.

SPRAY PREPARATION

Eliminate Herbicide is a dry flowable formulation mixed with water and applied as a spray. Ensure continuous agitation to keep the material in suspension at all times. For commercial and industrial use, a non-ionic surfactant or organosilicone is recommended. In forestry use, the organosilicone Pulse® Penetrant is advised when used alone pre-plant.

EQUIPMENT AND APPLICATION

  • Do not apply by aerial or mist spray application equipment in commercial and industrial areas.
  • Ground spraying equipment (boom spray) recommended for Eliminate Herbicide application.
  • Handgun/knapsack application is suitable, avoiding excessive wetting.
  • In forestry, use ground application (tractor, ute, skidder) or aerial application (helicopter) with specific precautions.

COMPATIBILITY AND COMPANION PRODUCTS

Eliminate Herbicide is compatible with various herbicides, and specific recommendations are provided for forestry pre-plant and post-plant applications. Glyphosate, metsulfuron-methyl, diuron, atrazine, simazine, hexazinone, clopyralid, haloxyfop-R, triclopyr, glufosinate, oxyfluorfen, and various surfactants are listed as compatible companion products.

Always refer to the product label for detailed instructions and contact Crop Culture representatives for advice on forestry companion products.
