FOR PRE-EMERGENCE CONTROL OF CERTAIN WEEDS IN DIRECT SEEDED AND TRANSPLANTED TOMATOES, ALMONDS, GRAPEVINES AND STONE FRUIT AS SPECIFIED IN THE DIRECTIONS FOR USE TABLE

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
RESTRAINTS:
DO NOT apply to peaty soils.
DO NOT sow pasture, winter and summer cereals, onions or beet for 12 months after treatment.
DO NOT apply more than once per season.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
The effectiveness of a selective herbicide such as Devrinol depends upon its ability to control weed growth and at the same time to be tolerated by the crop. Maximum tolerance is obtained under favourable conditions of crop growth, but under adverse conditions when the crop is stressed it may be less tolerant of the herbicide. Direct seeded tomatoes are very susceptible to adverse soil and weather conditions during germination and establishment. Under these circumstances crop failure can occur even though no herbicide is used. When Devrinol is used for tomatoes it is therefore most important to ensure that the young tomato crop is not subject to adverse soil and weather conditions or disease, otherwise the crop may become less tolerant of the herbicide and suffer damage.
Devrinol is particularly susceptible to photodegradation and rate of breakdown in the soil is greatly accelerated at high temperatures. At the recommended application rates, it is unlikely that herbicide residues will persist to harm following crops, provided label instructions are followed.
MIXING: Add the required amount of Devrinol to the spray tank at least half-full with water under agitation. Top up with water to the required volume and agitate well to ensure even mixing before application. For sprayers which cannot agitate whilst stationary an external mixing vat should be used. Maintain agitation throughout spraying operation. Use spray the same day it is prepared.
APPLICATION: Apply at a pressure of 170-340kPa. Check spray nozzles frequently during application to ensure a uniform spray pattern. Cultivation and furrowing equipment used for inter-row weed control must be adjusted to avoid moving untreated soil onto treated areas. Plough treated area with a heavy disc or mouldboard plough after harvest and before replanting to susceptible crops. Clean spray equipment after use.
