GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

  • This product is a granular formulation and is not mixed in water. It is an effective residual herbicide.
  • For best control, apply during periods of active plant growth. Application during dormant, semi-dormant, or winter months may be less effective.
  • In temperate winter rainfall areas with temperatures generally below 25°C during active growth, overall effects may be slow. For best control of perennials, apply during spring. Adequate moisture is required after treatment to promote root absorption by weed species.
  • Results may vary with rainfall, soil types, and other conditions.
  • DO NOT apply during intense rainfall periods or conditions that may cause pellet movement to non-target areas.
  • DO NOT use this product via dust-prone methods. Only use applicators specifically designed for dispensing granular products.
  • DO NOT use human flaggers in aerial spraying unless protected by engineering controls, such as enclosed cabs.

APPLICATION

Aerial Application:

  • Aerial application of GP Flupropanate can be carried out by fixed-wing aircraft or helicopter fitted with a calibrated Positive Metering Device (Transland Meterate Precision Applicator) for fixed-wing aircraft and Isolair or similar precision equipment for helicopters.
  • Maintain a minimum flying height of 15 meters above the canopy of the target.
  • The swath width depends on the type of spreader used and should be pattern tested for uniformity.
  • Apply in accordance with FPQ’s Code of Practice for Aerial Herbicide Application.
  • DO NOT contaminate waterways.

Ground Application:

  • Ground application can be carried out in suitable areas with a properly calibrated precision granular applicator approved by Granular Products Pty Ltd.
  • May be applied all year round.
  • Best results are achieved when applied to actively growing, stress-free weeds, particularly in warm periods.
  • In areas with seasonal rainfall, useful application may be made prior to rainfall events that bring plants into active growth.
  • Poor results may occur in dry winters, severe droughts, or to weeds retarded by burning.

IMPORTANT

  • This product is slow-acting, and control of existing growth will take 3-12 months depending on weather conditions and senescence of plant foliage.
  • The length of satisfactory residual control depends on soil type and rainfall until regeneration occurs from grass seed or surviving rhizomes.
  • Avoid use in channels, drains, or where roots of desirable plants may extend.
  • Control of grasses in shaded conditions may be reduced.
  • Subterranean clover and other annual legumes may be damaged if exposed to this product or if they germinate before residues dissipate from the soil.
  • Do not treat pasture land with this product more than once a year.
  • Excessive application rates can reduce selective control and impact desirable species.
  • The product is liable to leaching and movement in the soil under heavy rainfall; delay application if intense rainfall is expected.

COMPATIBILITY

  • GP Flupropanate Granular Herbicide should be applied alone.

PADDOCK PREPARATION

  • Graze desirable species before spraying to prevent them from covering weeds.

RE-SEEDING

  • Desirable pasture species may be sown after at least 100 mm of leaching rain has fallen.

CLEANING UP

  • Equipment should be cleaned after use.

RESISTANCE WARNING

  • GP Flupropanate Granular Herbicide is a member of the alkonic acid group of herbicides.
  • It has the inhibitors of fat synthesis mode of action and is a Group 0 herbicide.
  • Some naturally-occurring weed biotypes resistant to GP Flupropanate Granular Herbicide and other inhibitors of fat synthesis herbicides may exist.
  • Granular Products Assets Pty Ltd accepts no liability for losses resulting from failure to control resistant weeds.
