GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

Farmalinx FORGE Herbicide is an effective foliar contact and soil active residual herbicide. It should be applied with sufficient water for thorough uniform coverage. For optimal foliar and residual weed control, it is recommended to apply as a post-emergent spray during periods of active weed growth and when air temperatures are 25°C and above. Applications during dormant or semi-dormant periods, under moisture stress, or during winter months may not be as effective.

In temperate winter rainfall areas with temperatures generally below 25°C during active plant growth, the foliar effect may be slow to appear. In such areas, herbicide activity relies more on root absorption. Sufficient rainfall after treatment is necessary to promote root absorption by the weeds.

Results may vary depending on the amount of chemical applied, rainfall, air temperature, soil type, and other conditions. All use rates of the product are expressed as overall rates. For band treatment, proportionately less should be used, such as one-third of the overall rate for treating one-third of the area.

Equipment and Application

Farmalinx FORGE Herbicide is a soluble granule formulation that should be mixed with water and applied at recommended rates with either ground or aerial equipment. It's essential to keep the material in suspension at all times by continuous agitation. To prevent nozzle blockage, strainer and nozzle screens should be 50 mesh or coarser. When mixing FORGE with atrazine, add FORGE first to the spray tank and agitate strongly before adding atrazine.

  • Ground Application: Apply with a properly calibrated boom in 100 to 400 L/ha.

  • Forestry Spotgun: Refer to Directions for Use for critical comments.

  • Aerial Application: Apply a minimum of 20 L water for every 1 kg of product used, or use a minimum of 50 L water when used with Accuflow (coarse droplet nozzle in helicopters).

A non-ionic surfactant/wetting agent may be added at the recommended rate for improved wetting, but do not add surfactant if spraying over the top of Pinus trees.

Industrial Weed Control

  • Ground Application: Apply in 100 to 400 L/ha with a properly calibrated boom, or 2000 to 4000 L/ha with hand spray equipment.

Crop Safety

  • Avoid applying after planting in certain situations to prevent tree death or injury, such as on trees showing poor vigor due to disease or environmental factors, on poorly drained soils, and on gravelly or rocky soils.

Equipment Cleanup

  • Thoroughly clean all traces of FORGE from application equipment immediately after use to prevent damage to sensitive plants in subsequent treated areas.

RESISTANT WEEDS WARNING

Farmalinx FORGE Herbicide belongs to the triazines group of herbicides and has the inhibitors of photosynthesis at photosystem II mode-of-action. It is categorized as a Group 5 herbicide. Some naturally occurring weed biotypes resistant to FORGE and other Group 5 herbicides may exist, and resistant weeds will not be controlled by FORGE or other Group 5 herbicides. It's essential to prevent seed set of surviving weeds, and if resistance is suspected, alternative strategies should be employed.
