GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Foliar and Root Absorption:
    • The product is both foliar and root absorbed, providing residual soil activity.
    • Best results are achieved during periods of active plant growth.
    • Application during dormant, semi-dormant, moisture-stressed, or winter months may be less effective.
    • In temperate winter rainfall areas with temperatures below 25°C during active growth, effects may appear slower.
    • For optimal control of perennials, apply during spring months in these areas.
    • In WA and SA, apply only during April-August when adequate rainfall is expected.
    • Sufficient moisture is needed after treatment to promote root absorption by the weed species.
    • DO NOT apply during periods of intense rainfall or conditions causing drift to non-target areas (wind speeds exceeding 30kph for ground application or 20kph for aerial application).
    • On slopes of 20% to 30%, apply by strip, spot, or stem injection applications only.
    • On slopes greater than 30%, apply by spot or stem injection only.
    • Rates in the DIRECTIONS FOR USE tables refer to sprayed hectares.

SPOTGUN APPLICATIONS:

a) To the Soil:

  • For trees taller than 5m, consider stem injection for less product use.
  • Use the spear attachment for the SPOTGUN on sloping ground, applying on the uphill side to a depth of 2 to 3 cm.
  • Avoid application onto ash in recently burnt areas.
  • Results may be slow if applied to dry soil; optimal conditions include moist soil, active plant growth, and either on-surface nozzle or spear attachment use.
  • Individual Brush/Tree: Apply between the base and dripline unless specified otherwise.
  • Grid Pattern Application: Adjust treatment based on target plant density.

b) Stem Injection Application:

  • Treat each stem of multi-stemmed trees as an individual tree.
  • Requires less product than soil applications for Eucalypts taller than 5m.
  • Can be done at any time but best during good sap flow and not during drought stress.
  • Injection cuts should be made at waist height with a narrow-bladed axe.
  • Use a suitable tree injector and inject the product within 5 seconds of the cut.

FOLIAR SPRAY APPLICATIONS:

  • Use sufficient water for thorough, uniform coverage.
  • Apply as a post-emergent spray during active plant growth and air temperature of 25°C and above.
  • Effect may be slow in dormant, semi-dormant, or winter conditions; in these areas, herbicide activity depends more on root absorption.
  • Residual control requires sufficient rainfall after treatment to promote root absorption.
  • Results vary with chemical amount, rainfall, temperature, soil type, and conditions.
  • All use rates are expressed as overall rates; for band treatment, use proportionately less.

EQUIPMENT AND APPLICATION:

  • SPOTGUN and Stem Injection:

    • Applications to the soil - use SPOTGUN.
    • Stem Injection - use a suitable tree injector.
  • Foliar Spray Applications:

    • Use a water-miscible liquid formulation, mixed with water at recommended rates with ground equipment.
    • Partially fill the spray tank, add the correct product amount with agitation engaged, and top up with water.
    • Keep the spray solution agitated while spraying.
    • Use strainer and nozzle screens of 50 mesh or coarser to prevent nozzle blockage.
    • Ground Application: Apply in 100-400L per sprayed hectare with a calibrated boom or 2000-4000L per sprayed hectare with hand spray equipment.

USE OF SURFACTANTS/WETTING AGENTS:

  • Use a surfactant/wetting agent for foliar spray applications only, by ground equipment.
  • Add a non-ionic surfactant/wetting agent at the rate of 250-500mL/100L of spray (for a surfactant containing 100% active constituent) for improved wetting.
