GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Hyena 960 Herbicide contains 960 g/L S-metolachlor in the form of an emulsifiable concentrate (EC).
1) TURF
- Pre-emergent Herbicide: Hyena 960 provides up to 8 weeks of residual germinating weed control for various annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in established and recovering turf.
- Mode of Action: Acts primarily through shoot (coleoptile) absorption, absorbed by emerging shoots, especially grass coleoptiles, with some root absorption.
- Application Timing:
- Late spring to early summer and summer (for summer annual grasses control)
- Late summer to autumn (for winter grass control)
- Late winter to early spring (continuing winter grass control)
- Apply once per season
- Recommended Applications For:
- Sporting fields, Golf Fairways, General Turf Applications
- Commercial Turf Sod Production Applications
- Special Considerations:
- In heavy thatch areas, weed control efficacy may be reduced.
- Photodegradation and volatilisation losses can occur if not incorporated by irrigation or rainfall immediately after application.
- Avoid application under hot, dry conditions if immediate incorporation is not possible.
- Not recommended for use on soils with less than 5% clay in the top 30 cm.
- Mixing: Add Hyena 960 directly to a spray tank with 2/3 of the required spray volume, engage the agitation system, add the rest of the water, and ensure thorough agitation before application. Maintain agitation during application.
- Application Rate: Apply prior to weed emergence at 400 to 800 L of water per hectare (4 to 8 L of water per 100 m²). Use coarse droplets (e.g., Air Induction flat fan 08 nozzles) for even coverage.
- Soil Moisture Activation: Soil moisture is necessary to activate Hyena 960. Incorporate the product into the soil profile with at least 3 mm irrigation/rainfall immediately after application. A further 5 mm of irrigation is required 7 days after application if 5 mm rainfall has not occurred.
- Compatibility: Maintain spray tank water pH within a range of 5 to 8. Test mixtures for compatibility and turf safety before large-scale application.
2) OTHER CROPS
- Pre-emergent Herbicide: Short residual herbicide for the control of annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in nominated crops.
- Mode of Action: Acts through shoot (coleoptile) absorption. Effectiveness depends on rainfall or irrigation to move it into the top 3 to 4 cm of soil.
- Application Rate: Ground application only: Apply in a minimum of 60 L/ha of water.
- Mixing: Add the required amount directly to the spray tank, fill with water, and mix well.
- Compatibility: Compatible with atrazine (500 g/L), glyphosate 360 and 450 herbicides, and paraquat + diquat.
- Zero-tillage (Canola, Barley, Oats, Wheat, Triticale): Avoid post-seeding applications unless seeding slots are filled in before application. Alternatively, apply immediately before seeding.
- Warnings:
- Cotton: Heavy rain following application, combined with below-average soil temperatures, may result in crop injury.
- Brassica Crops: Crop retardation may occur in low-organic matter soils with more than 60% fine sand and silt. Limit irrigation after application to no more than 25 mm. Do not use more than once per year.
