GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

Best results are obtained when FARMALINX KA-BOOM herbicide is applied to young actively growing weeds. The rate will depend on weed spectrum at the time of application. The degree of control and duration of effect are dependent on the rate used, sensitivity and size of target weeds, and environmental conditions at the time of and following application.

FARMALINX KA-BOOM herbicide stops the growth of susceptible weeds rapidly. However, typical symptoms of dying weeds (discoloration) may not be noticeable for 1 to 3 weeks after application, depending on environmental conditions and susceptibility. Warm, moist conditions promote the activity of FARMALINX KA-BOOM herbicide, while cold, dry conditions may delay activity. Weeds hardened-off by cold weather and/or drought stress will be less susceptible.

Where recommended, the addition of Glyphosate will enhance knockdown and control of weeds, minimizing the risk of resistant weeds occurring.

RESISTANT WEEDS WARNING: FARMALINX KA-BOOM Herbicide is a Group B herbicide and a member of the Sulfonurea group of herbicides. For weed resistance management, some naturally-occurring weed biotypes resistant to FARMALINX KA-BOOM and other Group B herbicides may exist. Resistant weeds may dominate the population if these herbicides are used repeatedly, and they will not be controlled by FARMALINX KA-BOOM or other Group B herbicides. Detection of resistant weeds before use is challenging, and Farmalinx Pty Ltd accepts no liability for losses resulting from the failure of FARMALINX KA-BOOM to control resistant weeds.

Large numbers of healthy surviving weeds can indicate resistance development. Efforts should be taken to prevent seed set of these survivors. DO NOT use an ALS inhibitor herbicide against the same weed in the crop following the use of FARMALINX KA-BOOM herbicide alone either as a fallow or pre-crop treatment. This exception does NOT apply if the fallow or pre-crop use of FARMALINX KA-BOOM herbicide was tank mixed with glyphosate. Avoid prolonged use of Group B herbicides on the same weed population.

If the user suspects that a Group B herbicide-resistant weed is present, FARMALINX KA-BOOM herbicide or other Group B herbicides recommended for the control of that weed should not be used. Strategies to minimize the risk of herbicide resistance are available, and consultation with farm chemical suppliers, consultants, local Departments of Agriculture or Primary Industries, or local Farmalinx Representatives is advised.

Crop Safety: DO NOT apply TUFMAN, METFURON, or TRIAFON in a tank mix with FARMALINX KA-BOOM herbicide as a fallow or pre-crop treatment.

Spray Preparation: FARMALINX KA-BOOM herbicide is a Water Dispersible Granule formulation to be mixed with water and applied as a spray. Partially fill the spray tank with water, measure the required amount of FARMALINX KA-BOOM herbicide, add to the tank with the agitation system engaged, and top up to the correct volume with water. Continuous agitation is essential to keep the material in suspension at all times.

In tank mixes, FARMALINX KA-BOOM herbicide must be in suspension before adding the companion herbicide or surfactant/wetting agent.

Compatibility: FARMALINX KA-BOOM herbicide is compatible with glyphosate herbicides (e.g., BAZOOKA, WARLORD, SIXGUN, or GLYPHO 450).

Use of Surfactant/Wetting Agent: Always add non-ionic surfactant (1000 g/L - non-buffering type) like WETDROP WETTER at 100 mL/100 L (0.1 % v/v) of the final spray volume. When applying FARMALINX KA-BOOM herbicide alone by air, add a mineral spray oil at 1 L/100 L (1 % v/v) of the final spray volume in addition to a non-ionic surfactant.

Ground Spraying: Use a properly calibrated boom spray to ensure thorough coverage and a uniform spray pattern. Avoid overlapping, and shut off spray booms during starting, turning, slowing, or stopping. Apply a minimum of 50 L prepared spray/ha.

Aerial Spraying: Apply in a minimum of 20 L/ha water, and 30 L/ha for improved performance reliability. Avoid spraying in still conditions and winds likely to cause drift onto adjacent sensitive crops or fallow areas. Turn off spray boom over creeks and dams. DO NOT apply when a temperature air inversion is likely to occur.

Sprayer Cleanup: To avoid subsequent injury to crops, remove all traces of FARMALINX KA-BOOM herbicide from mixing and spray equipment immediately after spraying:

  1. Drain tank completely and remove contamination on the outside of equipment by washing with clean water.
  2. Rinse inside of the tank and flush through boom and hoses using at least one-tenth of the spray tank volume. Drain the tank completely.
  3. Half-fill the tank with clean water and add household ammonia to give a 1% solution. Agitate, flush the boom and hoses, and let it stand for 15 minutes. Again, flush the boom and hoses, and drain the tank completely.
  4. Remove and clean nozzles and screens separately with ammonia solution.
  5. Rinse the tank with clean water and flush through boom and hoses. Drain the tank completely.
  6. DO NOT spray the tank rinsate onto sensitive crops or land intended for cropping with sensitive crop.
