GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS: METOR-S 960 FARMALINX

USES: METOR-S 960 is a short residual, pre-emergent herbicide designed for the control of many important annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in specified crops. It does not control broadleaf weeds in Maize, Sweet Corn, and Concep† II treated Sorghum. When mixed with Atrazine 600 g/L, it provides control without herbicide carryover issues. The product acts primarily through shoot (coleoptile) absorption, and its effectiveness relies on rainfall or irrigation to move it into the top 3 to 4 cm of soil.

APPLICATION:

  • Ground Application: Apply in a minimum of 60 L/ha of water. DO NOT apply by aircraft.

MIXING:

  • Fill the spray tank to one-quarter full. Add METOR-S while adding water to make up the final spray volume. Pour METOR-S into the stream of incoming water. Ensure good agitation at the time of addition for thorough mixing.
  • For Tank Mixing: Wettable powder or water-dispersible granule formulations should be added to the tank first, followed by suspension concentrates (flowables), water-soluble salts, and then METOR-S or other emulsifiable concentrate formulations. Maintain thorough agitation during mixing and application. Agitate tank mixes vigorously if allowed to stand. Do not leave tank mix spray solution standing in the vat overnight.

COMPATIBILITY:

  • METOR-S 960 is compatible with prometryn/fluometruron, Cotoran SC, Atrazine 600 g/L, Atrazine 900 g/kg, Prometryn 500 Flowable, Farmalinx Bentazone 480, Farmalinx Triafon, Farmalinx Paradat, and Sixgun (glyphosate).

  • Cotton Warning: Do not use when planting into dry soil or soil with marginal moisture. Conditions such as heavy rain or flood irrigation soon after planting, along with below-average soil temperatures, can result in crop injury due to the seedling's inability to metabolize above-normal amounts of the herbicide.

  • Brassica Crops Warning: Crop retardation may occur on soils with low organic matter content, containing more than 60% of fine sand and silt and less than 5% clay in the top 30 cm. Use lower rates towards the end of the rate range and apply onto moist soil. Limit irrigation after application to no more than 25 mm. Do not use more than once a year.

  • Zero-tillage Warning: When sowing using knife points and zero-tillage, apply METOR-S 960 immediately before sowing or post-seeding with harrows (or similar) filling in the seeding slot.

RESISTANT WEEDS WARNING:

  • METOR-S 960 belongs to the amide group of herbicides and is a Group K herbicide. Resistance management is crucial as naturally occurring weed biotypes resistant to METOR-S 960 and other Group K herbicides may exist.

  • Advice: Seek advice from local suppliers, consultants, Department of Agriculture, Primary Industries, or a FARMALINX representative for strategies and alternative treatments.

PRECAUTION:

  • Re-entry Period: Do not enter treated areas without protective clothing until the spray has dried.

PROTECTION OF CROPS, NATIVE, AND NON-TARGET PLANTS:

  • Do not apply under weather conditions or from spraying equipment that may cause drift onto nearby susceptible plants, crops, or pastures.
  • Do not plant crops other than specified ones within 6 months of METOR-S 960 application.

PROTECTION OF LIVESTOCK:

  • Do not graze or cut sweet potato leaves for stock food.

PROTECTION OF WILDLIFE, FISH, CRUSTACEANS, AND ENVIRONMENT:

  • Toxic to fish. Do not contaminate streams, rivers, or waterways with the chemical or used containers.
  • Do not apply under meteorological conditions or from spraying equipment that could cause spray drift onto adjacent areas, particularly wetlands, waterbodies, or watercourses.

STORAGE AND DISPOSAL:

  • Store in the closed, original container in a dry, cool, well-ventilated area. Do not store for prolonged periods in direct sunlight.
  • Triple or preferably pressure rinse containers before disposal. Dispose of rinsings in the spray tank. Do not dispose of undiluted chemicals on-site.
  • If recycling, replace the cap and return clean containers to a recycler or designated collection point.
  • If not recycling, break, crush, or puncture and bury empty containers in an approved waste management facility.
  • Do not burn empty containers or product.

SAFETY DIRECTIONS:

  • May damage eyes. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Repeated exposure may cause allergic disorders. Sensitive workers should use protective clothing.
  • Wear cotton overalls, gloves, hat, and goggles when opening the container, preparing, or using the spray.
  • In case of product contact with eyes, wash it out immediately with water.
  • After use, wash hands, arms, and face thoroughly with soap and water.
  • Wash gloves, face shield or goggles, and contaminated clothing after each day's use.
