GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS - BRUSH APPLICATIONS - CONTINUED:

APPLICATION CONSIDERATIONS:

  1. Best Results Conditions:

    • Apply to actively growing plants not stressed by factors like dry weather or waterlogging.
    • Thoroughly cover plants for maximum herbicide uptake.
  2. Regrowth and Retreatment:

    • Regrowth may occur if applied during stress or incomplete coverage.
    • Retreatment at recommended rates for regrowth, especially for blackberries (wait until at least 1 meter tall).
    • A 2-year interval is advised if plants were previously treated with other herbicides or subjected to burning or slashing.
  3. Avoidance of Mature Blackberries:

    • Avoid applying to bushes bearing mature blackberries intended for food use.

APPLICATION EQUIPMENT:

  1. Handgun:

    • Ensure complete and uniform coverage.
    • Use appropriate nozzle sizes and pressures based on plant size.
    • For blackberry regrowth, use a large spray nozzle with a wide cone setting for even coverage.
  2. Boom Spray:

    • Calibrate the boom for constant speed and uniform spray pattern.
    • Fan nozzles at 240-280 kPa recommended.
    • Adjust boom height for proper spray overlap.
    • Apply a minimum of 150L prepared spray per hectare; increase for dense stands.
  3. Gas Gun:

    • Ensure thorough coverage; use dye for visibility.
    • High-pressure settings for penetration.
    • Organosilicone penetrant recommended for Metsun 600 + Bio Choice 360.
  4. Aerial Application (Helicopter Only):

    • Calibrate helicopter for half overlap opposite pass technique.
    • Apply minimum 100L/ha for blackberries, 60L/ha for Mimosa pigra, up to 200L/ha.
    • Use a VMD of 300 microns.
    • Higher water volumes for large bushes or steep terrain.
    • Avoid spraying in unfavorable conditions.

TANK MIXES:

  • Tank mix with BioChoice 360 for improved weed control in specific situations, following the directions for use table.

USE OF SURFACTANT/WETTING AGENT:

  • Metsun 600 alone: Use a surfactant wetting agent ALWAYS. If not specified, use a non-ionic surfactant at 100mL/100L final spray volume.

  • Metsun 600 + Glyphosate: Use a non-ionic surfactant; an organosilicone penetrant (e.g., Pulse1) may be recommended in some tank mix situations.

  • Gas Gun Applications: Add an organosilicone penetrant (e.g., Pulse1) at the specified rate.

COMPATIBILITY:

  • Compatible with glyphosate formulations like BioChoice 360 Herbicide and Distribution 450 Herbicide.

SPRAY PREPARATION:

  1. Partially fill the spray tank with water.
  2. With agitation engaged, add the required Metsun 600 amount.
  3. Add the remaining water and maintain agitation.
  4. Re-agitate if the spray solution stands.

CROP ROTATION RECOMMENDATIONS:

  • Many crop species are sensitive to metsulfuron methyl. Breakdown factors include soil pH, moisture, and temperature. Legumes will be removed from pasture if oversprayed. Sensitive species listed in the instructions.
  • Plant a small test area to check for herbicide breakdown before sowing the entire area treated with Metsun 600.
