GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

APPLICATION

Spray Equipment: MUNGO 224 can be applied using standard low-pressure herbicide sprayers with hollow cone or flat fan nozzles. The equipment should be calibrated to deliver between 100 and 300 litres of spray mixture per hectare at a pressure of 250 to 300 kPa at the nozzle tips. For banded treatment directly over the crop row, ensure correct calibration for the dosage per sprayed hectare and maximum coverage of weed foliage. Clean equipment thoroughly before use.

Aerial Application (QUEENSLAND ONLY): Apply MUNGO 224 from fixed-wing aircraft or helicopters using a minimum of 48 litres of spray per hectare. Nozzles should not be closer to wingtips than three-quarters of the wing span to minimize spray formation or wingtip vortice roll. Maintain a spraying height of 2 to 3 meters over the crop. Use swirl jet or hollow cone nozzles, keeping pressures below 275 kPa. Do not use Micronaire equipment for application.

GREEN BEAN CROPS

  • Early Application: Apply MUNGO 224 early, as late treatment may result in inadequate control of certain weeds.

  • Crop Phytotoxicity: Some crop phytotoxicity may occur, including tip burning and stunting. Beans usually recover, though they may remain shorter.

  • Consultation: Consult with an experienced field agronomist before use, and consider applying in the evening if possible.

  • Warm Humid Conditions: Increased phytotoxicity may occur under warm, humid conditions. Adding a non-ionic wetting agent at 0.1% v/v may help.

  • Weed Growth Stage: Apply only after fully-expanded unifoliate leaf stage. Increase rate after beans reach the first fully-expanded trifoliate leaf stage for targeting certain weeds.

  • Multiple Applications: Only use multiple applications if necessary to address weed problems.

POST-EMERGENCE TREATMENTS

  • Optimal Conditions: Apply when both crop and weeds are free from moisture and temperature stress, with relative humidity around 65% or higher.

  • Temperature Considerations: Do not apply if soil temperature is below 15°C or air temperature is below 20°C. Avoid application when air temperatures exceed 30°C to minimize crop damage.

  • Weed Coverage: Apply before crop canopy shields weeds but after maximum weed emergence, typically between the 2nd and 5th trifoliate stages or about one month after sowing. Ensure thorough coverage for optimal weed control.

  • Crop Response: Expect temporary soybean leaf symptoms such as cupping, crinkling, and speckling, particularly on youngest leaves. Soybeans recover without affecting yield.

COMPATIBILITY

MUNGO 224 is compatible with bentazone, Haloxyken 520, fluazifop-P, Cletho 240, and sethoxydim.

PROTECTION

  • Crops and Non-Target Plants: Avoid spraying under conditions that may cause drift onto nearby susceptible plants, crops, or pastures. Wash sprayer thoroughly after use.

  • Wildlife and Environment: Prevent contamination of streams, rivers, or waterways with the chemical or used containers. Avoid application during weather conditions favoring runoff or drift.

RESISTANT WEEDS WARNING

MUNGO 224 belongs to the Diphenyl ether group of herbicides, with the inhibitor of protoporphyrinogen oxidase mode of action. Continuous use may lead to the development of resistant weed biotypes. Kenso Agcare Pty Ltd disclaims liability for losses resulting from failure to control resistant weeds.

MIXING

  • With Water: Mix MUNGO 224 readily with water. Fill the spray tank about two-thirds full with water, add the required amount of MUNGO 224, and mix thoroughly while maintaining agitation.

  • Surfactant Use: Add a low foam, non-ionic surfactant at the labeled rate for maximum weed control, added after adding MUNGO 224.

  • Crop Oil Adjuvants: MUNGO 224 may be combined with crop oil adjuvants like Hasten* at reduced rates. These should be added to the spray mixture after MUNGO 224, though increased crop phytotoxicity may occur temporarily.
