General Instructions - Relyon Oxon 240 Herbicide

Target Crops: Relyon Oxon 240 is a selective herbicide for controlling certain annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in various crops including dormant apples, grapes, peaches, pears, plums, apricots, almonds, macadamia, Duboisia, tobacco, coffee, pyrethrum, winter cereals, tropical/subtropical crops, brassicas, Eucalyptus, Pinus spp, and other forestry trees.

Application:

  • Apply to weed-free soil or seedling weeds at 4 to 6 true leaf stage.

  • Do not disturb or incorporate if applied to well-prepared, weed-free soil.

  • Spot treatment may be necessary for escape weeds or perennial grasses.

  • For seedling weeds, add non-ionic surfactant (e.g., Rygel CropWett 1000) for improved activity.

  • Use low rates as a 'spike' to enhance the weed spectrum of knockdown herbicides.

  • Duboisia, Eucalypt, and Pine can tolerate "over-the-top" applications.

Resistance Warning:

  • Group G Herbicide: Relyon Oxon 240 belongs to the diphenyl ether group.

  • Some weed biotypes resistant to Relyon Oxon 240 and Group G herbicides may exist due to genetic variability.

  • No liability for losses from failure to control resistant weeds.

Timing:

  • Residual Control: Apply before weed emergence, leaving the area undisturbed for up to 6 months.

  • Post-emergence Control: Apply to small seedling weeds (up to 4-6 true-leaf stage) for optimum control.

  • Use tank mixes with glyphosate for post-emergence control.

Mixing:

  • Shake well before use.

  • Add Relyon Oxon 240 to a partially filled spray tank with agitation.

  • Add non-ionic surfactant if required, minimizing foaming.

  • Tank mix carefully with other herbicides; follow label directions.

Application Guidelines:

  • Calibrate spray equipment before use.

  • Apply uniformly with low-pressure herbicide sprayer.

  • Directed treatment to the base of tree and vine crops using flat fan or hollow cone nozzles.

  • Complete coverage of seedling weeds is essential for maximum knockdown effect.

  • Apply using a vehicle-mounted boom, calibrated to deliver a medium droplet spectrum.

Crop Safety:

  • Apply as directed around dormant peach, plum, apricot, almond, apple, and pear trees, and grapevines.

  • Adjust rates based on tree/vine age; avoid application once bud swell has occurred at rates >1.0 L/ha.

  • Duboisia tolerates "over-the-top" applications.

  • Apply before sowing winter cereals at the 75 mL/ha rate.

Safe Sowing Intervals:

  • Safe intervals depend on the applied rate.

  • Up to 75 mL/ha: 1 day prior to planting broadacre crops and undersown pastures.

  • 7 days minimum prior to planting cotton or soybeans.

  • Minimal soil disturbance is crucial to avoid crop injury.

Plant Back Intervals:

  • Residual soil activity observed, especially at rates >75 mL/ha.

  • Observe plant back intervals for horticultural crops listed in the provided table.
