GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

Renege Herbicide is a selective post-emergent herbicide designed for controlling certain broadleaf weeds in tomatoes. The efficacy of the herbicide depends on factors such as the rate used, sensitivity and size of target weeds, and environmental conditions during and after application.

APPLICATION TIMING:

  • Best results are achieved when applied to young, actively growing weeds.
  • Symptoms of dying weeds may take 1 to 3 weeks to become noticeable, influenced by environmental conditions.
  • Warm, moist conditions enhance herbicide activity, while cold, dry conditions may delay it.

CROP SAFETY:

  • Crop stress factors may cause temporary chlorosis (lime green color), which usually disappears within 5 to 15 days.
  • To minimize chlorosis, apply Renege Herbicide only after at least 3 successive days of sunny weather.

TOMATO VARIETIES:

  • Tomato varieties may respond differently to herbicides.
  • When using Renege Herbicide for the first time on a particular variety, limit the initial use to a small area to monitor for crop injury.

SEQUENTIAL APPLICATIONS:

  • For control of annual weeds with multiple flushes or treated perennials that may regrow, use a sequential application.
  • The first application should go on early, followed by a second application 7 days later.

CULTIVATION:

  • In areas where cultivation is used, the ideal timing is 10 to 14 days after the Renege Herbicide application.

SPRAY PREPARATION:

  • Renege Herbicide is a dry flowable formulation to be mixed with water.
  • Keep the material in suspension at all times by continuous agitation.
  • In tank mixes, Renege Herbicide must be in suspension before adding companion herbicides or surfactants/wetting agents.

COMPATIBILITY:

  • Compatible with metribuzin herbicide for broader spectrum weed control. Reduced efficacy on Barnyard grass can be expected when tank mixed with metribuzin.
  • Compatible with methomyl insecticide formulations, but some temporary chlorosis may occur with liquid formulations.
  • Incompatible with organophosphate insecticides or fungicides. Allow 7 days between the application of Renege Herbicide and treatments using these products.

SURFACTANT / WETTING AGENT:

  • Always add non-ionic surfactant (1000 g/L - non-buffering type) at 250 mL/100 L (0.25 % v/v) of the final spray volume.
  • Adding crop oil concentrate may result in crop injury.

GROUND SPRAYING:

  • Use a calibrated boom spray with a constant speed and rate of delivery.
  • Apply a minimum of 50 L prepared spray/ha.

SPRAYER CLEANUP:

  • Thoroughly remove all traces of Renege Herbicide from mixing and spray equipment immediately after spraying.

CROP ROTATION RECOMMENDATIONS:

  • The interval before planting a follow-on crop depends on factors such as the rate used, soil conditions, time elapsed since application, and climatic factors.
  • Crop rotation recommendations are provided in a separate table (not provided in the text).
