Controls Phytophthora Crown and Spear Rot in Asparagus, Heart Rot and Root Rot caused by Phytophthora in Pineapples, Pink Rot in Potatoes and Blue Mould in Tobacco Seedbeds

ASPARAGUS
Disease: Phytophthora Crown and Spear Rot Phytophthora megasperma
State: –
Rate: 1 to 1.3 L per treated hectare
WHP: 14 days
Critical Comments: Use the higher rate if disease was evident during the previous season. Apply in sufficient water to obtain good ground coverage.
Apply as an annual broadcast application in late winter or early spring prior to spear emergence. If disease pressure is severe, a repeat application can be made.
Apply no more than 2 applications in any one season, with a minimum interval of 14 days between applications.
Ensure that the soil is free of weeds and trash. Light rain or irrigation is necessary to move the fungicide into the soil within 48 hours of application.

PINEAPPLES
Disease: Heart Rot and Root Rot caused by Phytophthora fungi
State: –
Rate: 500 mL/ 2000 to 5000 L water/ha
WHP: 4 weeks
Critical Comments: Spray immediately after planting and repeat at 4 to 8 week intervals during summer, autumn and winter. Use the shorter interval during periods of wet weather, or in areas with past histories of the disease. Thoroughly spray pineapple foliage and surrounding soil. For the first treatment hand drenching is preferred to spraying.
Use 2000 L/ha for young plants, increasing up to 5000 L/ha for large plants. RIDOMIL GOLD 480 SL should be applied in alternate years only. In intervening years use other recommended fungicides.

POTATOES
Disease: Pink Rot Phytophthora erythroseptica
State: Vic, SA, WA, Tas only
Rate: 8.5 mL/ 100 m row
WHP: –
Critical Comments: Apply once as an in-furrow spray at planting. Mount the spray nozzle so the spray is directed into the furrow as a 15 to 20 cm band just before the seed is covered. Apply in 1 to 3 L of water/100 m of row. Ensure the water volume used is not so high as to wash off any seed treatments previously applied to seed.
DO NOT apply RIDOMIL GOLD 480 SL if conditions or seed quality favour bacterial rots as these diseases may be aggravated if seed comes into contact with additional moisture.
DO NOT apply RIDOMIL GOLD 480 SL if planting in hot, sandy soils as bacterial rots may be aggravated.
Follow up with a program of RIDOMIL GOLD® MZ foliar application commencing 4 to 6 weeks after planting.

TOBACCO

Critical Comments: Spray at 7 day intervals commencing 7 to 10 days after emergence. Make the final application 4 weeks after emergence. Spray to thoroughly wet leaves. DO NOT drench.
Note: For further protection, apply Ridomil Gold MZ as a weekly foliar spray commencing 5 weeks after emergence.

Group 4 Fungicide

Fungicide Resistance Warning
RIDOMIL GOLD 480 SL Systemic Fungicide is a member of the phenylamide group of fungicides. For fungicide resistance management RIDOMIL GOLD 480 SL is a Group 4 fungicide. Some naturally occurring individual fungi resistant to RIDOMIL GOLD 480 SL and other Group 4 fungicides may exist through normal genetic variability in any fungal population. The resistant individuals can eventually dominate the fungi population if these fungicides are used repeatedly. These resistant fungi will not be controlled by RIDOMIL GOLD 480 SL and other Group 4 fungicides, thus resulting in a reduction in efficacy and possible yield loss. Since the occurrence of resistant fungi is difficult to detect prior to use, Syngenta Australia Pty Ltd accepts no liability for any losses that may result from the failure of RIDOMIL GOLD 480 SL to control resistant fungi.
