GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS CONTINUED
Nufarm Sempra Usage:
- Nufarm Sempra is a dry flowable granule that disperses in water.
- It is designed for selective post-emergence control of Nutgrass in Sugarcane, Corn/Maize, and Sorghum.
- It is also effective for selective post-emergence control of Nutgrass and Mullumbimby couch in Turf and Navua sedge in pasture.
- Additionally, it can be used for Nutgrass control in Cotton using shielded sprayers, and Banjo or Supercharge Elite should always be added for maximum control.
Symptoms of Weed Control:
- Gradual yellowing of foliage and seed heads followed by desiccation.
- Initial symptoms may take 7-10 days to be noticeable, with full effects occurring 4 to 6 weeks after treatment.
- Apply to actively growing weeds when new growth has reached a minimum of 5cm for Nutgrass and Navua sedge, or 2cm for Mullumbimby couch.
- Apply follow-up treatments if sufficient new growth warrants re-treatment.
- For Navua sedge, follow-up treatments must be applied 8-12 weeks after the first treatment for good control.
- Irrigation or rainfall within two hours of application will reduce control, and drought stress after treatment may also reduce control.
Mixing:
- Add Nufarm Sempra gradually to a part-filled spray tank while maintaining continuous bypass agitation.
- Add the surfactant near the end of the filling process to avoid excessive foaming.
- Remove the hose from the mixing tank immediately after filling to avoid siphoning back into the water source.
- If allowed to stand, ensure that the mixture is thoroughly agitated before recommencing spraying.
- Use the mixture within one day.
Adjuvant Addition:
- Nufarm Sempra must be applied with Banjo or Supercharge Elite at 1 L/100L to ensure uptake.
- For handheld or knapsack application, add Banjo or Supercharge Elite at 100 mL/10L of water.
Sprayer Clean-up: Before applying products other than Nufarm Sempra, clean the sprayer:
- Drain the tank and flush equipment with water for a minimum of 10 minutes, including hoses, filters, and booms.
- Fill the tank with clean water and add chlorine bleach (contains 4% chlorine) at the rate of 300 mL/100L of water. Flush through the boom and agitate for 15 minutes.
- Repeat step 2 above.
- Remove all nozzles and screens and clean thoroughly.
- Rinse the tank thoroughly with clean water to remove traces of chlorine bleach.
- Caution: DO NOT use chlorine bleach with ammonia. Rinse equipment that contained liquid fertilizer with ammonia before adding chlorine bleach to avoid the release of irritating gas.
Following Crops:
- Time intervals before planting following the last application of Nufarm Sempra:
- Corn/Maize, Sorghum, Sugarcane: 2 months
- Wheat, Pastures (Brachiaria decumbens, Brachiaria humidicola, Setaria spp., Pangola spp.): 3 months
- Cotton: 4 months
- All other crops (except sugarbeet): 24 months
- Sugarbeet: 36 months
Resistance Warning:
- Nufarm Sempra is a Group 2 herbicide inhibiting acetolactate synthase, belonging to the sulfonylurea group.
- It is essential to manage resistance as Nufarm Sempra is a Group 2 herbicide.
- Some naturally occurring weed biotypes resistant to Nufarm Sempra and other Group 2 herbicides may exist.
- Resistant weeds may dominate the weed population if Group 2 herbicides are used repeatedly.
- There is no liability for losses resulting from the failure of Nufarm Sempra to control resistant weeds.
Additional Information:
- It is crucial to follow all recommended procedures, including the cleaning of equipment, before applying products other than Nufarm Sempra.
