GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS: Staroxy 200 Herbicide

MIXING:

  • In Water:
    • Half-fill the spray tank with water.
    • Add the required amount of Staroxy 200.
    • Complete filling and agitate continuously for thorough mixing before and during application.
  • In Diesel:
    • Half-fill the spray tank with diesel.
    • Add Staroxy 200.
    • Add the remainder of the diesel, agitate, or shake to mix contents.
  • Tank Mixtures:
    • Add wettable powder or dry flowable formulations first, followed by suspension concentrates, water-soluble salts, and then emulsifiable concentrate formulations (Staroxy 200).
    • Add spraying oils and surfactants last.

OILS AND SURFACTANTS:

  • Oils:
    • Use Uptake Spraying Oil at the rate of 500 mL/100 L of spray mix, unless specified otherwise.
    • Ensure a minimum of 250 mL/ha of Uptake Spraying Oil if using less than 100 L/ha spray volume.
  • Surfactants (Wetters):
    • Use a 100% concentrate non-ionic surfactant like BS 1000 at 100 mL/100 L spray mixture where required.
  • Atrazine:
    • Avoid using hard water.
    • If hard water is unavoidable, add CALGON water conditioning agent at 100 g/100 L water before adding any herbicide.

AGITATION:

  • Agitation is crucial when mixing Staroxy 200 and atrazine.
  • Tank mixes must be agitated vigorously and continuously during mixing and application.
  • DO NOT allow the mixture to stand without agitation for more than 2 hours.
  • If settling occurs, re-suspension is challenging, especially in large tanks.

APPLICATION METHODS and WATER RATES:

  • BROADCAST APPLICATION IN CROPPING, PASTURE, AND FALLOW:
    • Ground Application (Boom):
      • Apply in at least 50 L/ha water (100-400 L/ha for sugar cane).
      • Use flat fan nozzles at pressures of 200 to 300 kPa.
      • Set the boom for a double overlap of nozzle patterns.
    • Ground Direct Application (Dropper Nozzles):
      • Use dropper nozzles in sorghum (after 8-leaf stage) and in maize/sweet corn (after 6-leaf stage).
      • Direct spray into the base of the crop, away from leaves and growing points.
    • Aerial Application:
      • Apply in a minimum volume of at least 35 L/ha water (60 L/ha in sugar cane).
      • Calibrate equipment for droplets with an average diameter (VMD) of 250-350 microns.
      • DO NOT apply under high temperature, windless conditions, or when wind blows toward susceptible crops.
      • DO NOT use human flaggers without protective measures.

WOODY WEED SITUATIONS:

  • Weeds should be actively growing for optimal effect.
  • Delay treatment of regrowth until it has at least 1 meter of new, vigorous growth after bulldozing, slashing, burning, plowing, or a previous chemical treatment.
