DIRECTIONS FOR USE
IMPORTANT: This information is approved as part of the Product Label. All instructions within this section must be read carefully in order to ensure safe and successful use of this product.
Titania is a triazole and strobilurin fungicide recommended for controlling a wide range of diseases in winter and spring wheat.
RESTRICTIONS
PROTECT FROM FROST.
DISEASES CONTROLLED
Wheat
Eyespot, Septoria (leaf and glume blotch), powdery mildew, yellow rust, brown rust, ear disease complex* – Fusarium ear blight.
*Good reduction observed.
Eyespot (Oculimacula spp.)
Titania controls eyespot in wheat.
Application: Spray in the spring at the first sign of disease, from when the leaf sheaths begin to become erect until the 2nd node is detectable (GS 30-32).
Septoria Leaf Blotch and Glume Blotch (Zymoseptoria tritici and Phaeosphaeria nodorum)
Application: Apply before the disease is established in the crop. To protect the upper leaves and ears, apply Titania at full flag leaf emergence (GS 39) up to mid-flowering (GS 65). If disease pressure remains high, application may be repeated.
Applications to upper leaves where S. tritici symptoms are present may be less effective.
Note: Titania contains a DMI fungicide. Resistance to some DMI fungicides has been identified in Septoria leaf blotch, which may affect the performance of some products. Consult your agronomist or specialist for advice on resistance management and visit the FRAG-UK website.
Powdery Mildew (Blumeria graminis)
Application: Apply Titania at the first signs of disease. Titania will also control powdery mildew in wheat when used for other diseases.
Where disease pressure remains high, application may be repeated.
Note: Strains of wheat powdery mildew resistant to QoI fungicides are common in the UK. A control program involving different active substances is recommended for specific control.
Yellow Rust (Puccinia striiformis)
Application: Apply Titania at the first signs of disease. A second application may be made 2-3 weeks later if re-infection occurs.
Applications to established infections may be less effective.
Brown Rust (Puccinia triticina)
Application: Apply Titania at the first signs of disease. A second application may be made 2-3 weeks later if re-infection occurs.
Applications to established infections may be less effective.
Ear Disease Complex
Application: Apply Titania soon after ear emergence until the end of flowering (GS 59-69) for a good reduction of Fusarium ear blight and sooty molds.
Control of ear diseases results in cleaner, brighter ears.
CROP-SPECIFIC INFORMATION
Titania may be used on all commercial varieties of winter and spring wheat.
Dosage: Apply 1.0 liter per hectare in winter and spring wheat.
Maximum total dose per crop: 2.0 liters per hectare.
Use 100-300 liters of water per hectare. Higher volumes are recommended in dense crops or when disease pressure is high to ensure good coverage.
Spray Pressure: 2-3 bar, apply as a MEDIUM spray quality (as defined by BCPC).
Latest Permitted Timing: Apply at any stage before grain reaches the milky ripe stage (GS 71).
MIXING AND SPRAYING
Shake the pack thoroughly before use.
Add the required quantity of Titania to a half-filled spray tank with agitation in operation. Fill the tank to the required level and continue agitation during spraying and until the tank is empty. Spray immediately after mixing.
Clean sprayers thoroughly before use and check filters and nozzles for blockages or damage.
RESISTANCE MANAGEMENT
Apply fungicides according to the manufacturer's recommendations for the specific crop growth stage (GS).
Titania contains two fungicides with different modes of action: a strobilurin and a triazolinthione.
Titania includes trifloxystrobin, a member of the QoI cross-resistance group. It should be used preventatively and not relied on for curative purposes.
Limit to two foliar applications of QoI-containing products per cereal crop.
Note: Strains of wheat powdery mildew resistant to QoI are common in the UK. A program of sprays should include no more than two sprays of Titania or other products containing a strobilurin fungicide.
