General Instructions:

Resistant Weeds Warning:

  • Group A Herbicide: Smart Tralkoxydim WG Herbicide belongs to the cyclohexanediones group of herbicides and has the inhibitors of acetyl CoA carboxylase mode of action. It is classified as a Group A herbicide for weed resistance management.
  • Some naturally occurring weed biotypes resistant to Smart Tralkoxydim and other Group A herbicides may exist through normal genetic variability.
  • Resistant individuals can dominate the weed population if these herbicides are used repeatedly. Resistant weeds will not be controlled by Smart Tralkoxydim or other Group A herbicides.
  • Crop Smart Pty Ltd accepts no liability for losses resulting from the failure of Smart Tralkoxydim to control resistant weeds.

Mixing:

  • Use sprayers in good working condition with high-capacity agitation.
  • Clean the sprayer according to the label instructions on the product used prior to Smart Tralkoxydim.
  • Use only clean water for the spray solution.
  • Ensure that all in-line strainers and nozzle screens in the sprayer are 100 mesh or coarser.
  • Do NOT use cartridge or disc filters after the spray tank outlet, or have two (or more) filters directly after each other anywhere in the system.
  • Agitation must be continued throughout the entire mixing and spraying procedure.
  • Slowly add Smart Tralkoxydim to the spray tank when it is half full of water. Do not premix Smart Tralkoxydim.
  • Add the total required amount of Smart Tralkoxydim from all cartons first before adding other herbicides or Mineral oil/Surfactant Adjuvant product.
  • Wait at least one minute after adding Smart Tralkoxydim for complete dispersion of the granules.
  • Add recommended broadleaf weed herbicide or insecticide next if tank mixing.
  • Slowly add Mineral oil/Surfactant Adjuvant product to the tank last, in at least 10 times its volume of water, especially where a suction (filling) probe or hopper is used.
  • Continue to fill the tank to the desired level with water.

Spraying Instructions:

Ground Equipment:

  • Apply in a spray volume of 50-150 litres of water per hectare at a pressure of 250 - 350 kPa.
  • Use flat fan nozzles such as Spraying Systems 110-01, 110-015, 110-02, or equivalent sizes from other manufacturers. Do not use 110-03 or bigger nozzles with Smart Tralkoxydim.
  • Do not use floodjet nozzles, boomless jets, or misters.
  • Nozzles may be angled forward 45o to enhance penetration of the crop and provide better coverage.
  • Ensure agitation is continued until spraying is completed.
  • If agitation is stopped for more than 5 minutes, re-suspend the spray solution by running on full agitation until settled particles are fully re-suspended.

Aerial Equipment:

  • Apply through boom or Micronair units in 20-30 litres of water per hectare.
  • Droplet size should be 200-250 microns (VMD), and swath width should not be wider than recommended for the type of plane and application unit.
  • Weed control following aerial application may not be as good as from ground application.

Crop Safety:

  • If applied to stressed crops or if crop plants have less than 2 true leaves (Z12), yellowing or growth retardation may occur. Crops normally recover without loss in yield.
  • Avoid double spraying (overlap).
  • Plantback Periods: Do not plant sorghum, maize, or rice for four weeks after application. Allow at least 10 days between application of Smart Tralkoxydim and any other herbicide, except Ally, for which the interval should be 14 days after Smart Tralkoxydim. Allow at least 10 days between application of Smart Tralkoxydim and any fertilizer treatment.

Protection:

  • Protection of Crops: Do not apply under weather conditions or from spraying equipment that may cause spray to drift onto nearby susceptible plants/crops, cropping lands, or pastures.
  • Protection of Livestock, Wildlife, Fish, Crustaceans, and Environment: Moderately hazardous to fish. Do not contaminate streams, rivers, or waterways with the chemical or used container.

Storage and Disposal:

  • Store in the closed, original container in a dry, cool, well-ventilated locked room or place and away from children, animals, food, feedstuffs, seed, and fertilizers.
  • Do not store for prolonged periods in direct sunlight.
  • Single rinse before disposal. Add rinsings to the spray tank. Do not dispose of undiluted chemicals on site.
  • Puncture and bury empty bags in a local authority landfill. If no landfill is available, bury the containers below 500 mm in a disposal pit specifically marked and set up for this purpose clear of waterways, desirable vegetation, and tree roots. Empty bags and product should not be burnt.

Safety Directions:

  • Harmful if swallowed. Will irritate the eyes.
  • If the product gets in the eyes, wash it out immediately with water.
  • When preparing the spray, wear a face shield or goggles.
  • Wash hands after use. After each day’s use, wash the face shield or goggles.
