GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:

Imtrade Velchem Duet Herbicide is a broad-spectrum, soil residual herbicide designed for the control of various annual and perennial grasses, broadleaf weeds, and vines. Optimal results are achieved when applied just before weed growth. Remove well-established weeds through mechanical or other means. Ensure soil moisture and cleanliness at the time of application for effective results.

Application Results:

Results may vary with soil type and environmental conditions. Lower rates are effective on lighter soils, while higher rates may be necessary for control on heavier soils. Herbicide effects are slow to appear and may require sufficient moisture (12-25mm on moist soil, 25-50mm on dry soils) through rainfall or irrigation after treatment. Best results are obtained if rainfall or irrigation occurs within 3-4 days after application. Thoroughly wet the entire treated area with irrigation, avoiding overwatering to prevent runoff.

Rate Expression:

All rates are expressed as overall rates. For band treatments, use proportionately less. Apply only half the overall rate when treating half the area. Temporary chlorosis of lower leaves may occur. Minimize injury by using low directed spray application. Determine cane varieties' tolerance before treating large areas.

RESISTANT WEEDS WARNING:

Imtrade Velchem Duet Herbicide contains members of the triazinone and urea group of herbicides. It acts as an inhibitor of photosynthesis at photosystem II. For weed resistance management, it is classified as a Group C herbicide. Naturally-occurring weed biotypes resistant to Imtrade Velchem Duet Herbicide and similar herbicides may exist, and repeated use can lead to dominance. Imtrade Australia Pty Ltd accepts no liability for losses resulting from the failure to control resistant weeds.

EQUIPMENT AND APPLICATION:

Fill the spray tank with water, add the correct product amount, and maintain continuous agitation to prevent nozzle blockage. Use mechanical agitation, and hydraulic agitation is satisfactory if the pump volume returns at least 5% of the tank capacity per minute. Do not use air agitation. Shut off spray booms during starting, turning, slowing, or stopping to avoid crop injury.

Use of Surfactant/Wetting Agent:

For established weeds, a non-ionic surfactant may enhance wetting and knockdown effectiveness. Use a non-ionic surfactant (1000 g/L) at a rate of 250mL to 500 mL/100L final spray volume (0.25% to 0.5% volume/volume). Higher rates apply to perennial weeds and grasses, preferably under high humidity and temperatures exceeding 21°C.

PROTECTION AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Wildlife and Waterways: Avoid contaminating streams, rivers, or waterways with the chemical or used containers.
  • Crops and Non-Target Plants: Do not apply near desirable trees or plants, where roots may extend, or in locations where the chemical may reach their roots. Avoid drift onto nearby susceptible plants/crops, cropping lands, or pastures. Do not use on lawns, driveways, walkways, tennis courts, or similar areas.

STORAGE AND DISPOSAL:

Store in the closed original container in a dry, cool, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight. Triple or pressure rinse containers before disposal, and do not dispose of undiluted chemicals on-site. If recycling, return clean containers to a recycler or designated collection point. If not recycling, bury empty containers below 500mm in a disposal pit marked for this purpose, away from waterways, vegetation, and tree roots. Do not burn empty containers or the product.

SAFETY DIRECTIONS:

The herbicide may irritate the eyes, so avoid contact. Wear cotton overalls, buttoned to the neck and wrists, and elbow-length PVC gloves when opening the container and preparing the spray. Wash hands after use, and after each day's use, wash gloves and contaminated clothing.
