For the control of Nematodes in Banana plants, Capsicums and Tomatoes, and Banana weevil borers in Banana plants, as per the Directions for Use table

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
GROUP 1A INSECTICIDE
DuPont Vydate L is a carbamate systemic insecticide/nematicide, in the form of a water-soluble liquid. Vydate L should only be used with the equipment specified on this label. Keep people without protective clothing out of operational areas during treatment.

Insecticide Resistance Warning
For insecticide resistance management DuPont Vydate L insecticide/nematicide is a Group 1A insecticide.
Some naturally occurring insect biotypes resistant to Vydate L and other Group 1A insecticides may exist through normal genetic variability in any insect population. The resistant individuals can eventually dominate the insect population if Vydate L or other Group 1A insecticides are used repeatedly. The effectiveness of Vydate L on resistant individuals could be significantly reduced.
Since the occurrence of resistant individuals is difficult to detect prior to use, DuPont accepts no liability for any losses that may result from the failure of this product to control resistant insects.
DuPont Vydate L may be subject to specific resistance management strategies. For further information contact your local supplier, DuPont representative or local agricultural department agronomist.

BANANAS – APPLICATION BY SPOTGUN
The product acts as a larvicide for the control of Banana weevil borer.

Equipment – Spotgun Method
The product should only be used with the specially designed and developed Vydate L Spotgun fitted with a coarse spray nozzle. The Vydate L Spotgun kit includes an EPDN seal, chemically resistant cylinder and short lance piece. Before using, prime the Spotgun and set at the required dose. Ensure no air remains in the cylinder of the Spotgun. For application, aim and squeeze the handle to produce a coarse spray. Allow the spring action to return and refill the cylinder. After each day’s use, clean the Spotgun thoroughly by flushing with water. Direct the rinsate onto the treated area.

Application – Spotgun Method
Application of undiluted product should be to moist soil. Remove weeds, leaf trash and other plant material from the base of the plant before application. Apply with the specially designed Vydate L Spotgun applicator in a 30 cm semi-circular pattern to the butt of the developing plant and the soil surface. Once the sucker / follower has been selected, switch application from the mother plant to the follower.
Follow up rainfall or irrigation will enhance uptake of the chemical. Irrigation may be used to incorporate Vydate L into the soil.

CAPSICUMS AND TOMATOES – APPLICATION BY TRICKLE OR DRIP IRRIGATION
Equipment
DuPont Vydate L should only be applied through direct injection into drip irrigation systems. Specialised equipment is required to dispense product from the container.
Ensure that the Vydate L injection equipment is accurately calibrated to achieve the required application rates. Details of the injection technique are attached to the container.

Application
Before application, establish if nematode populations warrant treatment. Information on paddock history and soil or root sampling can be used as guidelines.
Ensure that the Vydate L injection equipment is accurately calibrated to achieve the required application rates. Apply Vydate L during latter stages of irrigation. Thoroughly flush lines after application to remove all traces of product.

Irrigation Management
DuPont Vydate L treatments may be incorporated into the normal irrigation schedule at the recommended intervals. Rates of water penetration and percolation will vary greatly with method of irrigation, soil type, texture, organic matter, pH, slope and grade. Therefore irrigate the crop in a manner to firstly wet the root zone, then apply Vydate L so as to distribute the product uniformly. After treatment, flush the irrigation system with sufficient fresh water to remove all traces of the product from the irrigation system, while ensuring that the Vydate L remains in the root zone of the crop.
Efficacy depends on even distribution throughout the tomato beds. Crop injury, lack of effectiveness or unacceptable residues in the crop may result from non-uniform distribution through the irrigation system.

NOTICE TO BUYER
To the extent permitted by law all conditions and warranties and statutory or other rights of action which buyer or any other user may have against DuPont or Seller are hereby excluded. DuPont hereby gives notice to buyer and other users that it will not accept responsibility for any indirect or consequential loss arising from reliance on product information or advice provided by DuPont or on its behalf unless it is established that such information or advice was provided negligently and that the product has been used strictly as directed. DIRECTIONS FOR USE
BANANAS
RESTRAINTS:
DO NOT apply to dry soil.
DO NOT apply onto leaf trash or weeds.
DO NOT apply during heavy rain.

APPLICATION BY SPOTGUN

BANANAS
State: NSW and Southern Qld only
Pest: Banana weevil borer (Cosmopolites sordidus)
Rate/Plant: 7.5 mL or 10 mL
Critical Comments: Apply to moist soil. Apply at intervals of 3 months with 3 applications per season. Begin applications in spring when pest activity is on the increase, and reaches a threshold level of 1 weevil per trap.
Use the higher rate if trap monitoring indicates the average adult weevil borer population is greater than 2 weevils per trap. Trap prior to each application.

Pest: Burrowing nematode (Radopholus similis), Spiral Nematode (Heliocotylenchus spp.)
Rate/Plant: 10 mL or 12.5 mL
Critical Comments: Apply to moist soil. Apply at intervals of 3 months. Commence application in early spring when visual root examination indicates nematodes are present.
Use the higher rate for previously untreated crops, or when root damage assessment indicates the presence of high nematode population.

State: NT, WA and North Qld only
Pest: Banana weevil borer (Cosmopolites sordidus)
Rate/Plant: 10 mL
Critical Comments: Apply to moist soil. Apply at intervals of 3 months with 3 applications per season. Begin applications in spring when pest activity is on the increase, and reaches a threshold level of 1 weevil per trap.

NOT TO BE USED FOR ANY PURPOSE OR IN ANY MANNER CONTRARY TO THIS LABEL UNLESS AUTHORISED UNDER APPROPRIATE LEGISLATION.

CAPSICUMS & TOMATOES
RESTRAINTS:
DO NOT apply other than through trickle/drip irrigation.
DO NOT apply to dry soil.

APPLICATION BY TRICKLE OR DRIP IRRIGATION

CAPSICUMS, TOMATOES
State: Qld, WA only
Pest: Root knot nematode (Meloidogyne spp.)
Rate/ha: 18 L/ha plus 2 L/ha
Critical Comments: For initial application at transplanting, apply 18 L/ha to be followed by four applications of 2 L/ha applications at 14 day intervals. If crop growth is slowed and the period between the last application and the first harvest exceeds 30 days, a further application may be required to protect the plant from nematode infection during the peak harvest period.
Prior to application ensure that soil is thoroughly moist.

NOT BE USED FOR ANY PURPOSE OR IN ANY MANNER, CONTRARY TO THIS LABEL UNLESS AUTHORISED UNDER APPROPRIATE LEGISLATION
