DIRECTIONS FOR USE
SHARDA CAPTAN 80 WDG fungicide is a dispersable granular fungicide for use in water as a spray for the control of certain fungus diseases of fruit, vegetables and ornamental crops, and as a soil treatment for the control of certain seed rots and damping-off diseases. Spray injury may result if captan is used with, immediately before or closely following an oil spray. DO NOT APPLY BY AIR.

RESISTANCE MANAGEMENT
For resistance management, SHARDA CAPTAN 80 WDG Fungicide contains a Group M fungicide. Any fungal population may contain individuals naturally resistant to SHARDA CAPTAN 80 WDG Fungicide and other Group M fungicides. A gradual or total loss of pest control may occur over time if these fungicides are used repeatedly in the same fields. Other resistance mechanisms that are not linked to site of action but specific for individual chemicals, such as enhanced metabolism, may also exist. Appropriate resistance-management strategies should be followed. To delay fungicide resistance:
Where possible, rotate the use of SHARDA CAPTAN 80 WDG Fungicide or other Group M fungicides with different groups that control the same pathogens.
Use tank mixtures with fungicide from a different group that is effective on the target pathogen when such use is permitted.
Fungicide use should be based on an integrated disease management program that includes scouting, historical information related to pesticide use and crop rotation and considers host plant resistance, impact of environmental conditions on disease development, disease thresholds, as well as cultural, biological and other chemical control practices.
Where possible, make use of predictive disease models to effectively time fungicide applications.
Monitor treated fungal populations for resistance development. Notify Sharda Cropchem Limited if reduced sensitivity of the pathogen to SHARDA CAPTAN 80 WDG is suspected.
If disease continues to progress after treatment with this product, do not increase the use rate. Discontinue use of this product, and switch to another fungicide with a different site of action, if available.
Contact your local extension specialist or certified crop advisors for any additional pesticide resistance-management and/or IPM recommendations for specific crops and pathogens. For further information and to report suspected resistance, contact Sharda Cropchem Limited at 1-888-760-0187.

COMPATIBILITY
SHARDA CAPTAN 80 WDG Fungicide can be used at recommended dosages in accordance with spray schedules or recommendations by Provincial or Experiment station personnel. Do not combine with oil and strongly alkaline materials such as hydrated lime, which reduces the fungicidal activity. Do not use this product in combination with, immediately before or closely following an oil spray, or with solvent formulations of parathion products.

MIXING
Fill the spray tank with clean water to one-fourth or one-third of final desired volume. Start agitation (proper agitation creates a rippling or rolling action on the liquid surface). Slowly add SHARDA CAPTAN 80 WDG fungicide at the recommended rate. Add water to desired final volume. Mix thoroughly and apply at once. Maintain sufficient agitation during mixing and spraying operations to ensure a uniform spray mixture.

RECOMMENDATIONS
Unless otherwise specified, rates are given in terms of SHARDA CAPTAN 80 WDG fungicide per 1000 liters of water. If expressed in kilograms per hectare, sufficient water to provide thorough coverage should be used. Except as specified, begin applications before or at first sign of disease and repeat as necessary to maintain control but observe limitations. Consult authorities for specific information as the timing, number and rate of applications needed will vary with local conditions.

FRUIT

APPLE Scab: Use 1.2 kg in 1000 litres. Apply in a regular protective schedule from green tip up to and including second cover spray. After second cover spray, reduce rate to 0.6 kg per 1000 litres if scab is at a low level in the orchard. Do not apply within 7 days of harvest. Early season sprays may cause injury to foliage of Red Delicious, Winesap and other sensitive varieties.
Bitter Rot, Black Rot, Brooks Spot, Flyspeck, Sooty Blotch: Use 0.6-1.2 kg in 1000 litres. Consult your provincial spray calendar for recommended dosage, rate and timing of applications. Do not apply within 7 days of harvest. Early season sprays may cause injury to foliage of Red Delicious, Winesap, and other sensitive varieties.
Bulls-eye Rot (Gloeosporium perennans): Use 1.2 kg in 1000 litres. Apply if rainy periods occur prior to harvest. Consult your provincial spray calendar for timing of applications. Do not apply within 7 days of harvest. Early season sprays may cause injury to foliage of Red Delicious, Winesap and other sensitive varieties.

APRICOT-Brown Rot: Use 1.2-1.5 kg per 1000 litres. Apply in pink bud, bloom shuck-split, shuck-fall and pre-pink sprays. Do not apply within 2 days of harvest.

CHERRY (SOUR, SWEET)-Brown Rot, Shot Hole (Leaf Spot): Use 1.2-1.5 kg in 1000 litres. Apply in prebloom, bloom, petal fall, shuck, first, second and third cover sprays and immediately after harvest. Leaf injury may result to the Schmidt and Emperor Francis varieties of sweet cherry in post-bloom sprays. Do not apply within 2 days of harvest for sweet cherry or 5 days for sour cherry.

PEACH AND NECTARINE-Brown Rot, Scab: Use 1.2-1.5 kg in 1000 litres. Apply in late pink, full bloom, petal fall, shuck fall, and cover spray. Continue applications through harvest if conditions favor brown rot. Do not apply within 2 days of harvest.

PEAR-Scab, Sooty Blotch: Use 1.2 kg in 1000 litres. For scab, apply in the prebloom, petal fall and first cover sprays. For sooty blotch, apply in the second cover spray and 2 weeks later. Do not use on D'Anjou pears. Do not apply within 7 days of harvest.
PLUM-Black Knot, Scab, Brown Rot: Use 1.2-1.5 kg in 1000 litres. For black knot, spray in green tip, prebloom and blossom sprays. For scab, apply in the prebloom, petal fall and first cover sprays. For brown rot, apply in the prebloom, bloom, shuck and cover sprays. Do not apply within 2 days of harvest.

GRAPE-Dead Arm (current season's infections): Use 1.2 kg in 1000 litres. Apply when new shoots are 1.2 to 5 cm long and again when 10 to 15 cm long. Do not apply within 7 days of harvest.
Black Rot, Downy Mildew: Use 1.2-1.5 kg in 1000 litres. Apply just before bloom, just after bloom and in first cover. For downy mildew, an additional application 2 to 3 weeks later may be needed. Do not apply within 7 days of harvest.

RASPBERRY-Fruit Rot, Spur Blight: Use 1.2 kg in 1000 litres. Apply when blossoms first appear and repeat at intervals of 7 to 10 days until harvest. Under conditions favorable to fruit rot, continue applications throughout the harvest period. Do not apply within 2 days of harvest.

BLACKBERRY-Fruit Rot: Use 2 kg per hectare. Apply when first blossoms open and then at weekly intervals through bloom. Under conditions favorable to fruit rot, continue applications throughout the harvest period. Do not apply within 2 days of harvest.

LOGANBERRY-Cane Spot, Fruit Rot, Leaf Spot, Spur Blight: Use 1.4-2 kg per hectare. Apply when first blossoms open and then at weekly intervals through bloom. Under conditions favorable to fruit rot, continue applications throughout the harvest period. Do not apply within 2 days of harvest.
