GENERAL INFORMATION
MAXIM PSP POTATO SEED PROTECTANT is a potato seed piece treatment fungicide, which controls seed-borne diseases of potatoes. MAXIM PSP POTATO SEED PROTECTANT is active against Black Scurf including Stem and Stolon Canker (Rhizoctonia solani), Silver Scurf (Helminthosporium solani), and Fusarium Dry Rot (Fusarium spp.). MAXIM PSP POTATO SEED PROTECTANT does not control bacterial diseases present within the seed.
MAXIM PSP POTATO SEED PROTECTANT is to be used as an integral part of a potato disease management strategy. This strategy includes the use of high quality seed and the incorporation of cultural techniques such as: crop rotation and optimal harvest time for tubers to minimise disease development; proper handling of tubers to avoid unnecessary bruising; management and sanitation of equipment and storage areas to reduce inoculum including avoidance of storage conditions that lead to free moisture or condensation; and application of the seed piece treatment to clean seed pieces with a properly calibrated application system.
NOTE: Treatment of highly mechanically scarred or damaged seed, or seed known to be of low vigour and poor quality, may result in reduced germination and/or reduction of seed and seedling vigour. Due to seed quality and seed storage conditions beyond the control of Syngenta Canada Inc., no claims are made to guarantee the germination of potato seed pieces.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
POTATOES (SEED TREATMENT) - CUT SEED
Use 500 g per 100 kg of cut seed. Apply using appropriate treater designed for treating potatoes or by dust attachment over belt. Cut pieces should be treated immediately after cutting. If treated seed pieces are to be bagged, they should be stored for 2 - 3 days in open crates before bagging.
NOTE:
For optimum protection against Silver Scurf, ensure that seed tubers are completely free of soil. Total skin coverage is essential. Reduced control can be expected in fields where volunteer potatoes from the previous year's crop act as a source of infection. Consult your provincial Potato Production Guide for recommendations.
