General Information:

Amigo is a selective herbicide that contains the active ingredient oxyfluorfen. It is effective against a wide range of broadleaf weeds and grasses in a variety of crops, including rice, onion, potato, and tea. Amigo is a systemic herbicide with contact and root uptake. It also has some residual activity in the soil.

Active Ingredient:

  • Oxyfluorfen 23.5% EC

Mode of Action:

Oxyfluorfen is a photosystem II inhibitor herbicide. Photosystem II is a complex of proteins and chlorophyll that is involved in the light-dependent reactions of photosynthesis. By inhibiting photosystem II, oxyfluorfen stops the production of ATP and NADPH, which are essential energy molecules for plant growth and development.

Application:

Amigo can be applied as a pre-emergence or post-emergence herbicide. The recommended dose and application method will vary depending on the crop and the weeds to be controlled. For example, to control broadleaf weeds in rice, Amigo can be applied as a pre-emergence herbicide at a dose of 260-400 ml per hectare.

Precautions:

  • Amigo is a selective herbicide, but it can harm some crops if applied incorrectly. It is important to read and follow the label directions carefully.
  • Amigo is not rain fast. Therefore, it should not be applied if rain is expected within 4 hours of application.
  • Amigo is toxic to fish and other aquatic organisms. Therefore, it should not be applied near water bodies.
