Introduction

Beleaf (Godrej Agrovet Ltd) Thiamethoxam (12.6%) + Lambdacyhalothrin (9.5%) Zc is a broad-spectrum systemic insecticide used to control a wide range of sucking and chewing insects in a variety of crops, including rice, wheat, sugarcane, and vegetables. It is a combination of two active ingredients: thiamethoxam, a neonicotinoid insecticide that acts as a neurotoxin, and lambdacyhalothrin, a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide that disrupts the nervous system of insects.

Mode of Action

Thiamethoxam is absorbed by the roots and foliage of plants and translocated throughout the plant. Once inside the plant, it binds to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) in the insect's nervous system, preventing the transmission of nerve impulses. This disruption of nerve signals leads to paralysis and eventually death of the insect.

Lambdacyhalothrin, on the other hand, is a contact insecticide that kills insects on contact. It disrupts the nervous system of insects by interfering with the sodium channels in their cell membranes. This disruption leads to uncontrolled movement, paralysis, and eventually death of the insect.

Application Rates

The application rate of Beleaf will vary depending on the target pest, the crop, and the environmental conditions. In general, the application rate will range from 200 to 400 grams per hectare.

Application Methods

Beleaf can be applied by foliar spray or by soil application. Foliar spray is the most common application method. To apply by foliar spray, mix the appropriate amount of product with water and apply the mixture to the foliage of the plants until they are thoroughly wet. Soil application is typically used for pre-emergence control of insects. To apply by soil application, mix the appropriate amount of product with water and apply the mixture to the soil surface before the insects emerge.

Application Timing

Beleaf should be applied when insects are actively feeding. The best time to apply is in the spring or fall when insects are young and tender.

Re-Entry Interval

The re-entry interval for Beleaf is 24 hours. This means that people should not enter the treated area until 24 hours after the last application.

Beleaf is a toxic chemical that should be handled with care. Always wear protective clothing, such as gloves, goggles, and a respirator, when handling the product. Do not apply the product in windy conditions or near water sources. Keep the product out of reach of children and pets.
