General Information:
Calaris Xtra is a pre-mix herbicide made by Syngenta India Ltd. It is a broad-spectrum herbicide that is designed to control a wide range of broadleaf and grass weeds, including barnyardgrass, foxtail, pigweed, and morning glory . The herbicide is available in pack sizes of 700ml, 1400ml, and 3500ml .
Active Ingredient:
Calaris Xtra contains two active ingredients - mesotrione and tembotrione - that work together to control weeds . The composition of Calaris Xtra is 2.27% w/w Mesotrione and 22.7% w/w SC atrazine .
Mode of Action:
Mesotrione and tembotrione are both HPPD inhibitors that work by inhibiting the enzyme 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD) in plants. This enzyme is involved in the synthesis of carotenoids, which are essential for photosynthesis. By inhibiting HPPD, mesotrione and tembotrione prevent the synthesis of carotenoids, leading to bleaching and death of the plant .
Application:
Calaris Xtra should be applied as a post-emergence herbicide when weeds are actively growing. It can be applied using a backpack sprayer or tractor-mounted sprayer . The recommended dosage is 200-250 ml per acre .
