Heranil GR is a granular insecticide containing Carbofuran, a carbamate insecticide, effective against a wide range of soil-borne insect pests. It is available in a granular formulation and is applied directly to the soil, where it is absorbed by plant roots and distributed throughout the plant, providing protection against both foliar and soil-borne pests. Heranil GR is primarily used for agricultural pest control.

Mode of Action:

Heranil GR acts as a neurotoxin, disrupting the nervous system of insects. It inhibits acetylcholinesterase (AChE), an enzyme essential for nerve function in insects. This inhibition leads to the accumulation of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter, causing overstimulation of nerves, paralysis, and eventually death of the insects.

Application:

Heranil GR is applied directly to the soil, either as a broadcast application or as a band application along the plant rows. The insecticide granules are incorporated into the soil, where they are absorbed by plant roots and distributed throughout the plant, providing protection against both foliar and soil-borne pests.

Target Pests:

Heranil GR effectively controls a wide range of soil-borne insect pests, including:

  • White grubs: Larvae of various scarab beetle species that damage plant roots

  • Cutworms: Larvae of various moth species that feed on plant stems at or near the soil surface

  • Nematodes: Microscopic roundworms that parasitize plant roots, causing damage and reducing nutrient uptake

  • Wireworms: Larvae of click beetles that feed on plant roots and tubers

Precautions:

While Heranil GR is considered relatively safe when used according to label directions, it is essential to take precautions during handling and application.

  • Wear protective clothing, including gloves, goggles, and a mask, when handling or applying Heranil GR.

  • Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothing.

  • Do not eat, drink, or smoke while handling or applying Heranil GR.

  • Wash hands thoroughly after handling or applying Heranil GR.

  • Store Heranil GR in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, away from food, feed, and children's reach.

  • Dispose of empty containers safely and responsibly.

  • Heranil GR is moderately toxic to fish and aquatic organisms. Avoid contamination of water bodies.
