General Information:

Iris is a selective post-emergence herbicide that contains the active ingredients acifluorfen and clodinafop-propargyl. It is effective against a wide range of annual and perennial grasses and broadleaf weeds in soybeans.

Mode of Action:

Acifluorfen is a diphenylether herbicide that inhibits the enzyme protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO). PPO is an enzyme that is involved in the biosynthesis of chlorophyll, which is essential for plant photosynthesis. By inhibiting PPO, acifluorfen stops the production of chlorophyll, which leads to the disruption of plant photosynthesis and eventually to death.

Clodinafop-propargyl is an aryloxyphenoxypropionate herbicide that inhibits the enzyme acetyl-coenzyme A carboxylase (ACCase). ACCase is an enzyme that is involved in the biosynthesis of fatty acids, which are essential for plant growth and development. By inhibiting ACCase, clodinafop-propargyl stops the production of fatty acids, which leads to the disruption of plant growth and development, and eventually to death.

Application:

Iris can be applied as a foliar spray. The recommended dose and application method will vary depending on the weeds to be controlled and the stage of crop growth. For example, to control annual and perennial grasses and broadleaf weeds in soybeans, Iris can be applied as a post-emergence herbicide at a dose of 1.5 liters per hectare.

Precautions:

  • Iris is a selective herbicide, but it can harm some crops if applied incorrectly. It is important to read and follow the label directions carefully.
  • Iris is not rain fast. Therefore, it should not be applied if rain is expected within 4 hours of application.
  • Iris is toxic to fish and other aquatic organisms. Therefore, it should not be applied near water bodies.
