Master Stroke (Quizalofop 4% + Pyrithiobac Sodium 6% ME) is a post-emergence herbicide that effectively controls a wide range of narrow-leaved and broadleaf weeds in various crops, including cotton, soybean, and sunflower. It is a microemulsion formulation that combines two active ingredients for comprehensive weed control.

Active Ingredients:

  • Quizalofop-ethyl 4%: A selective herbicide that targets narrow-leaved weeds by inhibiting the enzyme acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase), essential for fatty acid synthesis in plants.

  • Pyrithiobac-sodium 6%: A selective herbicide that targets broadleaf weeds by inhibiting the enzyme acetolactate synthase (ALS), essential for amino acid synthesis in plants.

Mode of Action:

  • Quizalofop-ethyl disrupts fatty acid synthesis, leading to the cessation of cell membrane formation and ultimately causing the death of susceptible narrow-leaved weeds.

  • Pyrithiobac-sodium disrupts amino acid synthesis, leading to the cessation of cell division and ultimately causing the death of susceptible broadleaf weeds.

Application:

Master Stroke is applied as a post-emergence herbicide, meaning it is applied after the weeds have emerged. It can be applied as a foliar spray to actively growing weeds in various crops, including cotton, soybean, and sunflower. The recommended application rate varies depending on the crop and the weed pressure.

Precautions:

  • Master Stroke is moderately toxic and should be handled with care. Wear protective clothing, gloves, and goggles when handling the product.

  • Avoid contact with skin and eyes. If contact occurs, flush with water for 15 minutes and seek medical attention.

  • Do not apply Master Stroke to crops that are under stress from drought, flooding, or other factors.

  • Do not apply Master Stroke to water bodies or areas where there is a risk of runoff to water bodies. The herbicide is harmful to fish and aquatic organisms.

Doses:

The recommended dose varies depending on the crop and the weed pressure. Refer to the product label for specific instructions and application rates for the target crop and weed species.

This list is not exhaustive, and Master Stroke can control a wide range of other narrow-leaved and broadleaf weeds. For specific information on weed control, always refer to the product label or consult with a local agricultural extension agent.
