Introduction

REFLEX (Godrej Agrovet Ltd) Fomasafen 11.1%w/w + Fluazifop-p-butyl 11.1%w/w SL is a broad-spectrum post-emergence herbicide used to control annual and perennial grasses and broadleaf weeds in a variety of crops, including rice, wheat, sugarcane, and vegetables. It is a combination of two active ingredients: fomasafen, a diphenyl ether (DIPHENYL ETHER) herbicide that disrupts photosynthesis, and fluazifop-p-butyl, an aryloxyphenoxypropionate (ARYLXYPHENOXYPROPIONATE) herbicide that inhibits the enzyme acetyl-coenzyme A carboxylase (ACC).

Mode of Action

Fomasafen is absorbed by the foliage and roots of plants and translocated throughout the plant. Once inside the plant, it disrupts photosynthesis by interfering with the electron transport chain in chloroplasts. This disruption leads to the production of harmful free radicals that damage cellular components, eventually causing plant death.

Fluazifop-p-butyl, on the other hand, is absorbed by the foliage of plants and translocated throughout the plant. Once inside the plant, it inhibits the enzyme ACC, which is responsible for the synthesis of fatty acids. Without fatty acids, the cell membranes of plants break down and the plants die.

Application Rates

The application rate of REFLEX will vary depending on the target weed, the crop, and the environmental conditions. In general, the application rate will range from 1.0 to 2.0 liters per hectare.

Application Methods

REFLEX can be applied by foliar spray. Foliar spray is the most common application method. To apply by foliar spray, mix the appropriate amount of product with water and apply the mixture to the foliage of the weeds until they are thoroughly wet.

Application Timing

REFLEX should be applied when weeds are actively growing. The best time to apply is in the spring or fall when weeds are young and tender.

Re-Entry Interval

The re-entry interval for REFLEX is 24 hours. This means that people should not enter the treated area until 24 hours after the last application.
