Introduction

Vecendo (Godrej Agrovet Ltd) Chlorantraniliprole 0.5%Gr + Thiamethoxam 1% is a broad-spectrum insecticide used to control a wide range of sucking and chewing insects in a variety of crops, including rice, wheat, sugarcane, and vegetables. It is a combination of two active ingredients: chlorantraniliprole, a ryanodine receptor modulator that disrupts the insect's muscle contractions, and thiamethoxam, a neonicotinoid insecticide that acts as a neurotoxin, disrupting the normal functioning of the insect's nervous system.

Mode of Action

Chlorantraniliprole is a ryanodine receptor modulator that binds to the ryanodine receptors in the insect's muscles. Ryanodine receptors are responsible for regulating the release of calcium ions, which are essential for muscle contractions. When chlorantraniliprole binds to ryanodine receptors, it disrupts the normal release of calcium ions, leading to uncontrolled muscle contractions and eventually death of the insect.

Thiamethoxam is a neonicotinoid insecticide that acts as a neurotoxin, disrupting the normal functioning of the insect's nervous system. Neonicotinoids bind to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) in the insect's nervous system. nAChRs are responsible for transmitting nerve impulses. When thiamethoxam binds to nAChRs, it blocks the transmission of nerve impulses, leading to paralysis and death of the insect.

Application Rates

The application rate of Vecendo will vary depending on the target pest, crop, and environmental conditions. In general, the application rate will range from 400 to 600 grams per hectare.

Application Methods

Vecendo can be applied by broadcasting or by soil application. Broadcasting involves spreading the granules evenly over the field, while soil application involves mixing the granules with the top layer of soil. Both methods are effective in controlling target pests.

Application Timing

Vecendo should be applied when pests are actively feeding and the crop is at a susceptible stage of growth. For instance, in rice, Vecendo can be applied at the tillering stage to control leafhoppers and stem borers.

Re-entry Interval

The re-entry interval for Vecendo is 24 hours, meaning that people should not enter the treated area until 24 hours after the last application.

Precautions

Vecendo is a toxic chemical that should be handled with care. Always wear protective clothing, such as gloves, goggles, and a respirator, when handling the product. Do not apply the product in windy conditions or near water sources. Keep the product out of reach of children and pets.
