General Information:

Laudis is a selective herbicide commonly used in agriculture to control broadleaf weeds and grasses in various crops. It is known for its efficacy in managing weed infestations and helping to protect crop yields. Farmers and growers rely on Laudis to enhance crop quality and maximize production.

Active Ingredient:

The active ingredient in Laudis is tembotrione. Tembotrione is a systemic herbicide that belongs to the triketone chemical family. It is effective against a broad spectrum of grasses and broadleaf weeds.

Mode of Action:

Laudis works by inhibiting the enzyme 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD) in plants, which is essential for chlorophyll biosynthesis. Without chlorophyll, plants cannot photosynthesize and produce energy, leading to their death. This mode of action makes Laudis effective in controlling a wide range of weeds that are susceptible to HPPD inhibition.

Application:

Laudis is a post-emergence herbicide that can be applied to corn, sweet corn, and popcorn. It is typically applied at a rate of 120 to 180 grams per hectare.

Precautions:

  • Laudis is toxic to fish and other aquatic life. Do not apply Laudis to areas where it may run off into water bodies.
  • Laudis can be harmful to non-target plants. Avoid applying Laudis to areas where non-target plants are growing.
  • Laudis is a residual herbicide, so it can persist in the soil for several weeks. Do not plant crops that are sensitive to Laudis within 3 to 6 weeks of application.
