General Information:

Omega is a selective post-emergence herbicide that effectively controls a wide range of narrow-leaved weeds, particularly Phalaris minor and Avena fatua in wheat crops. It is an emulsifiable concentrate formulation that contains Clodinafop-Propargyl 15% as the active ingredient. Omega is known for its excellent crop safety and effectiveness in controlling resistant weed biotypes.

Active Ingredients:

  • Clodinafop-Propargyl 15% EC

Mode of Action:

Omega's active ingredient, Clodinafop-Propargyl, belongs to the aryloxyphenoxypropionate (APP) group of herbicides. It acts by inhibiting the enzyme acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase), which is essential for fatty acid synthesis in plants. This disruption of fatty acid synthesis leads to the cessation of cell membrane formation and ultimately causes the death of susceptible weeds.

Application:

Omega is applied as a post-emergence herbicide, meaning it is applied after the weeds have emerged. It can be applied as a foliar spray to actively growing weeds in wheat crops. The recommended application rate is 600 ml per hectare.

Precautions:

  • Omega is a moderately toxic herbicide and should be handled with care. Wear protective clothing, gloves, and goggles when handling the product.
  • Avoid contact with skin and eyes. If contact occurs, flush with water for 15 minutes and seek medical attention.
  • Do not apply Omega to wheat crops that are under stress from drought, flooding, or other factors.
  • Do not apply Omega to water bodies or areas where there is a risk of runoff to water bodies.
  • Omega is harmful to fish and aquatic organisms.

Doses:

The recommended dose of Omega for wheat crops is 600 ml per hectare. This dose can be adjusted based on the weed pressure and the growth stage of the wheat crop.

This list is not exhaustive, and Omega can control a wide range of other narrow-leaved weeds in wheat crops. For specific information on weed control, always refer to the product label or consult with a local agricultural extension agent.
