Mode of Action:

Thiophanate methyl interferes with the microtubule formation in fungal cells, disrupting cell division and ultimately leading to the death of the fungal pathogens. It inhibits the synthesis of β-tubulin, a crucial component of microtubules, which are essential for cell division and growth in fungi. This disruption of microtubule formation prevents normal cell division and growth, leading to the inhibition of fungal development and ultimately causing their death.

Application:

Prism (Thiophanate methyl 70% WP) is applied as a foliar spray to the foliage of the target crops. Thorough coverage of the leaves and stems is essential for maximizing its effectiveness. The recommended application rate varies depending on the crop and the disease pressure.

Precautions:

  • Prism (Thiophanate methyl 70% WP) is a moderately toxic fungicide and should be handled with care. Wear protective clothing, gloves, and goggles when handling the product.

  • Avoid contact with skin and eyes. If contact occurs, flush with water for 15 minutes and seek medical attention.

  • Do not apply Prism (Thiophanate methyl 70% WP) to crops that are under stress from drought, flooding, or other factors.

  • Do not apply Prism (Thiophanate methyl 70% WP) to water bodies or areas where there is a risk of runoff to water bodies. The fungicide is harmful to fish and aquatic organisms.
