A wettable dispersible granule formulation containing 300 g/kg cyprodinil and 80 g/kg of picoxystrobin for the control of foliar diseases in wheat and barley.

Directions for Use
IMPORTANT: this information is approved as part of the product label. All instructions within this section must be carefully read in order to obtain safe and successful use of this product.
ACANTO PRIMA contains both an anilino pyrimidine and strobilurin fungicide. It has systemic, translaminar, is vapour active, with preventative properties for the control of a wide range of diseases in all commercial varieties of winter and spring wheat and winter and spring barley.

WINTER and SPRING WHEAT
Diseases:
Yellow Rust (Puccinia striiformis), Moderate Brown Rust (Puccinia recondita), Eyespot (Tapesia yallundae, Tapesia acuformis), Powdery Mildew (Erysiphe graminis).
Rate:
2.5 kg/ha
Critical comments:
max number of applications - 1 at 2.5kg/ha rate. Latest application time - up to grain watery ripe (Growth Stage 71).

WINTER and SPRING BARLEY
Diseases: Net Blotch (Pyrenophora teres), Brown Rust (Puccinia hordei), Powdery Mildew (Erysiphe graminis hordei), Leaf Blotch (Rhynchosporium secalis), Eyespot (Pseudocercosporella herpotrichoides).
Rate: 1.6 kg/ha
Critical comments: max number of applications - 2 per crop. Latest application time - up to first awns visible stage (Growth Stage 49).

Picoxystrobin and other strobilurin analogues inhibit fungal respiration. Their mode of action is different from the action of other fungicidal groups and there is no known cross-resistance to this mode of action in pathogens which have developed reduced sensitivity to other fungicides. It is, therefore, ideal for alternation or mixture with fungicides with other modes of action.

ACANTO PRIMA shows good crop safety, disease control and maintenance of green leaf area which results in significant yield benefits.

ACANTO PRIMA is best used as a protectant treatment or in the earliest stages of disease development.

Resistance Management ACANTO PRIMA contains picoxystrobin a member of the QoI cross resistance group. ACANTO PRIMA should always be used preventatively or as early as possible in the disease cycle. It should not be used as a sole method of disease control where disease is already established.

Use ACANTO PRIMA as part of an IPM strategy incorporating other methods of control, including where appropriate other fungicides with a different mode of action. You must not apply more than two sprays of QoI containing products to any cereal crop.

In wheat, ACANTO PRIMA must always be used in mixture with another product containing an active ingredient from a different cross resistance group that is recommended for control of the same target disease applied at a rate that will give robust control. Where strains of fungi resistant to QoI’s occur, ACANTO PRIMA is likely to be ineffective and should not be used.

Strains of barley powdery mildew resistant to QoI fungicides are common in Ireland. Disease control may be reduced if strains of pathogens less sensitive to picoxystrobin develop. To minimise the risk of further resistance development, users should follow the FRAC recommendations.

Crops ACANTO PRIMA can be used on all winter and spring crops of wheat and barley.

Timing
Always inspect crops to assess disease development immediately before spraying. Best results will be achieved from applications made as a protectant treatment or in the earliest stages of disease development following a disease risk assessment or the use of appropriate decision support systems.

Weather
Apply ACANTO PRIMA under good growing conditions with adequate soil moisture. Avoid poor growing conditions which may give less reliable results.

Dose
Wheat –2.5 kg per hectare. With a maximum total dose to not exceed 4 kg per hectare Barley – 1.6 kg per hectare. With a maximum of 2 applications.

Volume and Application. Apply in at least 200 litres of water per hectare using a medium quality spray (BCPC) at a pressure of at least 2 bar. Apply through conventional crop spraying equipment. In dense crops, increase the water volume to 250-300 litres per hectare to improve coverage.

Mixing and Spraying
Ensure that the sprayer is clean and correctly set to give an even application at the required volume.

Dry Mixing - Sprayers with Induction Hoppers Fill sprayer to 15% of tank capacity with water and start agitation. Pour ACANTO PRIMA into the induction hopper and open valve in bottom of hopper to suck the granules into the circulating spray mix. Continue adding ACANTO PRIMA until loading is complete. Wash down any granules on the hopper wall and close valve. Rinse packs in the normal manner.

Note for old sprayers with indirect venturi induction hoppers In the unlikely event of problems occurring during dry induction of the granules (blocked venturi), open the rinse ring and add water to the hopper. As soon as product induction continues, carry on adding product until the required amount is reached.

Sprayers Without Induction Hoppers Fill sprayer with a minimum of 15 cm of water in the bottom and agitate vigorously. Pour ACANTO PRIMA through the sprayer lid, triple rinse containers into the sprayer and then add the remainder of water.

Agitate the mixture thoroughly before use and continue agitation during spraying.

Wash out containers thoroughly, preferably using an integrated pressure rinsing device, or manually rinse three times. Add washings to the sprayer at the time of filling. Complete filling to the required volume and continue to agitate throughout the spraying operation.

Do not leave the spray liquid in the sprayer for long periods (such as during meal breaks or overnight).
