Emulsifiable concentrate formulation containing 200 g/l fluroxypyr as the 1-methyl heptyl ester. A selective post-emergence herbicide for the control of annual and perennial weeds, especially cleavers, common nettle and common chickweed in winter and spring cereals, forage maize and grassland.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
FLUXYR® 200 EC is a selective post-emergence herbicide for the control of annual and perennial weeds, especially cleavers, common nettle and common chickweed in winter and spring cereals, in maize and in established and newly sown grassland. The product can be applied as an overall spray using tractor mounted equipment or as a spot treatment using a knapsack sprayer. The active substance Fluroxypyr is a post-emergence aryloxyalkanoic acid herbicide. It is present as the 1-methyl heptyl ester. Best results are achieved under good growing conditions when weeds are actively growing in a strongly competing crop. In newlysown crops, seedling and small weeds are more susceptible to FLUXYR 200 EC and will respond quicker when treated at this stage. This is particularly important with cleavers, especially where HBN’s are not included in the tank mixture.
RESTRICTIONS
Maximum number of treatments: one per crop or year or maximum total dose equivalent to one full dose treatment.
Do not apply in any tank-mix on triticale or forage maize.
Do not apply on crops undersown with clovers or other legumes. Crops undersown with grass may be sprayed provided the grasses are tillering.
Do not treat crops which are under stress from e.g. drought, waterlogging, extremes of hot or cold, disease and pest attack, nutrient deficiencies etc.
Do not roll or harrow within 7 days before or after treatments.
Do not spray if frost is imminent or night temperatures are low.
Avoid drift onto neighbouring crops as damage may occur.
For cereals only:
Straw from treated crops must not be returned directly to the soil but must be removed and used only for livestock bedding. Do not overlap spray swaths. Check following crop susceptibility before drilling next crop.
RESISTANCE WARNING
Strains of weeds resistant to herbicides may develop, in which case reduced levels of control may be seen. It is recommended that FLUXYR 200 EC is used as part of a cropping programme which includes the use of herbicides with different modes of action. Do not rely on one herbicide mode of action in the same field over several years.
WEED CONTROL AND CROP SPECIFIC INFORMATION
1. CEREALS
FLUXYR 200 EC can be safely used on all varieties of winter and spring wheat, winter and spring barley, winter oats, winter rye, durum wheat and triticale
Spring application in winter cereals
Winter wheat and winter barley: Apply from 2 leaf stage (GS22) to before flag sheath opening stage (GS47). Application rate: 1 litre/ha
Winter oats, rye, durum wheat and triticale: Apply from the 2 leaf stage (GS22) to before the 2nd node detectable stage (GS32).
Application rate: 1 litre/ha.
Control of volunteer potatoes
Winter wheat and winter barley: Apply from the 3rd node detectable stage (GS33) to the flag leaf ligule just visible stage (GS37).
Application rate: 2 litres/ha.
Spray when there is adequate foliage i.e. when shoots are between 10 and 40 cm high. Complete control of top growth will not be achieved but a good degree of stunting can be expected. Best results will be obtained with late timings and high water volumes.
Spring application in spring cereals
Spring wheat and spring barley: Apply from the 2 leaf stage (GS22) to before flag leaf sheath extending stage (GS47).
Application rate: 0.75 litre/ha.
Spring oats: Apply from the 2 leaf stage (GS22) to before the 2nd node detectable stage (GS32).
Application rate: 0.75 litre/ha.
Water Volume: Apply in 150-400 litres/ha water. The lowest water volume should only be used in very open crops on small weeds. On later applications where the crop is dense, the spray volume should be increased to 400 litres water per hectare. For the control of volunteer potato, apply in 200-300 litres/ha water.
2. FORAGE MAIZE
Apply when the crop is between the 3-6 leaf stage (GS17), but before the crop is over 20 cm. Do not apply once the buttress roots (side roots) have started to develop on the first node.
Application rate: 1 litre/ha.
Water volume: Apply in 200-300 litres/ha water as a medium quality spray (BCPC).
Weed Control: Black nightshade will be controlled from cotyledons up to 6 true leaves stage.
3. GRASSLAND
FLUXYR 200 EC can be applied to established grassland or newly sown spring leys when grasses have at least 3 fully expanded leaves. Application can be made in the autumn or the spring. It is important that weeds are actively growing at the time of application.
Application rate: On established grassland: 2 litres/ha. On newly sown leys: 0.75 litre/ha.
Apply in 200-400 litres/ha water, using the higher volume in dense vegetation.
FOLLOWING CROPS
Clovers, peas, beans and other legumes must not be sown for 12 months following treatment with FLUXYR 200 EC at the highest dose.
MIXING AND SPRAYING
Before spraying it is important to check all hoses, filters and nozzles, and to ensure that the sprayer is clean and correctly set to give an even application at the correct volume. Half fill the sprayer tank with water, add the required quantity of FLUXYR 200 EC. Top up the sprayer tank with water to the required level and agitate the mixture thoroughly before and during spraying. The spray mix must be used immediately and agitated continuously during mixing and until application is complete.
Cleaning of the application equipment
Wash equipment thoroughly with water and detergent immediately after use. Traces of FLUXYR 200 EC can cause harm to susceptible crops sprayed later.
Spray Quality
Apply FLUXYR 200 EC as a medium quality spray and use a spray pressure of 2-3 bars.
