PROPERTIES OF GIBB PLUS
GIBB Plus is a liquid growth regulator containing a mixture of the gibberellins A4 and A7. Both these gibberellins occur naturally in apples and pears.
Applied during the fruitlet stage, GIBB Plus greatly reduces fruit russeting, resulting in fruit of improved quality. It is probable that GIBB Plus improves fruit fi nish by increasing the elasticity and the production rate of the outer epidermal cells of the rapidly expanding fruitlets after petal fall. In addition to fruit quality, GIBB Plus can have a positive infl uence on the marketable yield. On Cox, the inclusion of an approved product containing paclobutrazol in the spray programme has often led to optimum yield

Treated fruit may tend to be slightly more conical and elongated in shape and occasionally a slight reduction in return blossom can occur. Consult processors before treating crops grown for processing. Applied in pears during fl owering, GIBB Plus improves fruit setting thereby improving the quality of the pears. GIBB Plus is also recommended for use as seed soak to improve the germination of forest tree seeds (Nothofagus obliqua and N. procera)

APPLICATION TO APPLES
For the improvement of fruit skin fi nish.
Rates of use
Use: 0.2-0.4 litres/ha at 7 days intervals OR 0.25-0.5 litres/ha at 10 days intervals
Use higher rates when conditions (e.g. cold, wet or windy weather) are conductive for fruit russeting. Lower rates may be used under more favourable conditions, but the degree of improvement in the fruit skin fi nish is dependent on the rate used

Timing of sprays
Apply the fi rst spray immediately after the completion of petal fall, followed by: four further sprays at 7 days intervals OR three further sprays at 10 days intervals
If conditions during the period of petal fall to fruitlet are especially favourable for good fruit fi nish, then the fi nal spray may be omitted

Varieties
GIBB Plus has been used on Cox, Discovery, Golden Delicious and Karmijn with excellent results. Until further experience is gained, it is recommended that only a few trees of other varieties are treated

APPLICATION TO PEARS
For the improvement of fruit set
Use: 1 application of 1.5 litres/ha OR 2 applications of 0.75 litres/ha at 7 to 14 days interva

Apply during fl owering, preferably when the fi rst petals fall of

MIXING AND SPRAYING
Preparation of the spray solution
Slowly invert the container several times before using to ensure uniform mixture. Half fi ll the spray tank with clean water. Add the recommended quantity of GIBB Plus to the sprayer using a fi lling device (eg. induction bowl, probe) or by direct addition to the spray tank. Wash out containers thoroughly. Preferably use an integrated pressure rinsing device, or manually rinse three times. Add washings to the sprayer at the time of fi lling. Top up tank with water to required level.

Water volumes and spraying
Apply in not less than 200 litres of water per hectare. For optimum results, good coverage of the fruitlets is essential and this can best be achieved by applying in a volume of 500 to 1000 litres per hectare. Spraying under humid and slow drying conditions will further enhance the results achieved. Apply by any suitable orchard sprayer. Do not leave spray liquid in the sprayer for long periods (i.e. during meals or overnight)

TANK MIXTURES (UK ONLY)
GIBB Plus is compatible with any one of the following products: pirimicarb (MAPP 10515, 12550 or 11954), paclobutrazol (MAPP 10523), difl ubenzuron (MAPP 11056), lambda-cyhalothrin (MAPP 13529), bupirimate (MAPP13046), captan (MAPP 07096), calcium chloride, calcium nitrate, urea.
GIBB Plus is also compatible with the following 3 way mix: GIBB Plus + captan (MAPP 07096) + bupirimate (MAPP 13046), providing constant agitation is maintained and the tank-mix sprayed immediately.
Before using any tank mixture, always consult and comply with the recommendations of the partner product. This product is to be used in accordance with the recommendations and instructions given on the labels provided with this pack. Use in any other circumstances is entirely at the user’s risk.

DISPOSAL (IRELAND ONLY)
Dispose of contents/container to a licensed hazardous waste disposal contractor or collection site except for triple rinsed empty containers which can be disposed of as nonhazardous waste
