DIRECTIONS FOR USE
IMPORTANT : This information is approved as part of the product label. All instructions within this section must be read carefully in order to obtain safe and successful use of this product.
LEPINOX PLUS is a highly selective biological insecticide for use against Lepidopteran larvae. Larvae need to ingest the product to become infected: treat young larvae that feed voraciously before there has been excessive foliar injury. After consuming a lethal dose of LEPINOX PLUS, larvae will cease to feed, but may remain alive on foliage for several days before dying. Immediately after ingestion of a lethal dose of LEPINOX PLUS, larvae begin to move slowly, become discolored, shrivel and blacken prior to death.
Application rate & frequency
Apple/pear – reduction/useful control of caterpillars, principally tortrix species, at the dose of 1 kg/ha. Apply the recommended dose of LEPINOX® PLUS to full height trees typical of UK orchards at full canopy density. Where tree height and/or canopy density is reduced, the dose (and water volume) should be adjusted in accordance with an appropriate dose adjustment scheme. Consult your specialist advisor for further information. Further information on the PACE scheme is available from HDC, or see the HDC leaflet “Orchard spraying: opportunities to reduce rates”(UK only)
For the named field vegetable crops, reduction/useful control of caterpillars species, principally Plutella xylostella, at the dose of 1 kg/ha
Hops and grapevines – reduction/useful control of various caterpillars species, at the dose of 1 kg/ha
Strawberry - reduction/useful control of caterpillars, principally tortrix species, at the dose of 1 kg/ha
Tomato, melon, pepper, aubergine (protected crops) reduction/useful control of caterpillars species, at the dose of 1 kg/ha.
Apply treatments immediately after hatching when larval stages I and II are present and, in particular, while the larvae are outside the plant. Repeat treatments after 7 - 10 days if the critical period (i.e. hatching and presence of early larval stages) exceeds this duration. Local conditions may indicate the use of LEPINOX® PLUS at specific times.
Maximum number of treatments: 3.
Mixing and application
Pour half the required volume of water in the spray tank before adding the required amount of LEPINOX PLUS while making up to the required volume, agitating constantly. LEPINOX PLUS may be applied with conventional application equipment with quantities of water sufficient to provide thorough coverage of infested plants. As a guide apply between 400 and 1,500 l/ha on outdoor crops and between 400 and 2,000 l/ha on protected crops.Apply using equipment which distributes medium-high volumes of water.
An optimal wetting of crops is essential to ensure treatment effectiveness; application should not be made to the point of run off.
For optimum performance apply LEPINOX PLUS at the coolest time of day (eg between 10 and 20 °C), and avoiding conditions of high light intensity.
If heavy rain falls shortly after application and before the larvae have the opportunity to ingest the product, repeat the application
Compatibility
Avoid water with a pH >8, otherwise use an acidifier agent
Phytotoxicity
There are no phytotoxic effects if it is used in accordance with instructions for use.
Resistance
It is recommended that LEPINOX PLUS is used as part of an Integrated Pest Management programme involving other methods of control. This is particularly important for sequential crops.
