A micronised water dispersible formulation of sulphur which may be used to correct a sulphur imbalance in crops and for control of powdery mildew in a wide range of Agricultural and Horticultural crops. Microthiol® Special is a protectant fungicide and disease control is achieved by contact action.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
As Microthiol Special is a preventive fungicide, spraying should be carried out before the disease becomes established in the crop. Certain varieties of fruit trees, bushes and vines may be damaged by sulphur sprays. The form of the spray, district, soil and weather conditions, and type of stock all affect the degree of sulphur shyness. If in doubt, treat a small area with the product first.

AREAS OF APPLICATION
Sulphur Deficiency: In areas of sulphur deficiency, Microthiol Special may be used to supply the necessary sulphur for the crop. A sulphur imbalance can also occur in fast growing crops and an application of Microthiol Special will correct the imbalance at this critical period.
Mildew control: Microthiol® Special may be used to control mildew in a range of agricultural and horticultural crops. Microthiol® Special should be applied before or at the early development of the disease, thereby controlling the disease by the contact action.

RATE OF APPLICATION
Wheat and Barley: Apply 5-6 kg per hectare when mildew is first seen. If disease pressure is high, the use of a specific mildewicide is recommended.
Oilseed Rape: Apply 10 kg per hectare when growth starts in spring.
Sugar beet: Apply 10 kg per hectare when disease is first seen (usually early August). A second application may be necessary after 10-14 days if disease pressure is high.
Grassland: Apply 10 kg per hectare. For hay and silage apply at least 2 weeks before cutting. For grazing, apply 3-4 weeks before stock is introduced.
Swedes and Turnips: Apply 10 kg per hectare as soon as mildew is seen on the crop. A second application may be necessary if high disease pressure persists.
Peas and Beans: Apply 10 kg per hectare before the onset of disease when crops are 10-15 cm high, for disease prevention and growth stimulation.
Apples: Apply at 10-14 day intervals at the following rates:
At bud burst: apply 600g per 100 lt of water high volume or 11 kg per hectare in 500-750 litres.
Post blossom: apply at 400 g per 100 lt high volume or 8 kg /ha in 500- 750 litres.
Microthiol Special should not be applied to varieties known to be sensitive to sulphur.
Microthiol Special gives a useful control of scab. Hops: Apply 400-600 g per 100 lt water high volume or 8-11 kg per hectare in 350-500 litres from May to August. Apply at 10 day intervals. The higher rates should be used where the disease is severe or the foliage dense.
Gooseberries: Apply 250 g per 100 lt of water high volume at early flower, fruit set and fruit swell. It is important to thoroughly wet the bushes. DO NOT spray the varieties Careless, Lord Derby, Early Sulphur, Roaring Lion, Golden Drop, Yellow Rough and Leveller.
Microthio Special should not be used on bushes from which the produce is intended for processing.
Strawberries: Apply 200 g per 100 lt of water high volume as soon as the disease appears, and repeat at 10-14 days intervals. DO NOT spray strawberries if the fruit is intended for processing. Blackcurrants: Apply 200 g per 100 lt of water high volume at first open blossom. Repeat at 14 day intervals to give a total of 3 applications. For the control of blackcurrant Gall Mite high volumes of 2000 lt / hectare are recommended to give adequate spray cover. A non-ionic wetting agent at the recommended rate will assist control.
Grapevines: Apply 250 g per 100 lt of water as soon as the disease appears and repeat at 10-14 days intervals.

WEATHER
Avoid spraying if heavy rain is imminent. DO NOT spray during strong sunlight or in hot dry conditions. Avoid crops suffering from drought stress. DO NOT apply to wet crops if run–off is likely.

MIXING
Add Microthiol Special to the required volume of water in the spray tank. Leave to disperse and then agitate. Continue agitation until spraying is complete

VOLUME
Microthiol Special is a protectant material and it is important therefore to ensure good coverage of the crop. DO NOT APPLY in less than 200 litres of water per hectare.
