Seed treatment for control of the principal F seed-borne diseases in barley.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
IMPORTANT: This information is approved as part of the Product Label. All instructions within this section must be read carefully in order to obtain safe and successful use of this product. Raxil Star is a mixture of fluopyram (a SDH inhibitor) and prothioconazole and tebuconazole which are DMI’s.

CROPS
Raxil Star may be used on all varieties of barley.

DISEASES CONTROLLED
Fusarium seedling blight / stem base browning
Raxil Star improves crop establishment and the health of stem bases by reducing the symptoms of seedling blight and stem based browning caused by Microdochium nivale

Loose smut
Raxil Star controls loose smut caused by Ustilago nuda fsp. hordei

Covered smut
Raxil Star controls covered smut caused by Ustilago hordei (covered smut is rare in the UK and Ireland).

Leaf stripe
Raxil Star controls leaf stripe caused by Pyrenophora graminea.

Seed borne net blotch
Raxil Star gives control of net blotch caused by seed-borne infections of Pyrenophora teres.

RATE OF USE
50 ml of Raxil Star per 100 kg of seed (0.5 litres per tonne seed).

APPLICATION
Raxil Star must only be used in conjunction with Bayer CropScience approved seed treatment application equipment by following the procedures given in the operating instructions. ALWAYS follow the operating instructions. Ensure that Raxil Star is homogeneous before use. The product should be fully re-dispersed using a re-circulating pump for a minimum of 30 minutes. For further advice on re-dispersing Raxil Star please contact the local Seed Treatment Engineer of Bayer CropScience Limited.

Warning:
Containers of greater than 20 litres capacity should be handled only with mechanical assistance. Raxil Star should be evenly applied using a Bayer CropScience recommended seed treatment machine, which has been accurately calibrated to obtain the correct dose rate. The simultaneous application of Raxil Star with a small volume of water (1.5-3.0 L/tonne seed) may improve evenness of coverage of treated seed, depending on the type of seed treater used and processing conditions. For further details please contact the local Seed Treatment Engineer of Bayer CropScience Limited. After use the product application equipment should be thoroughly cleaned using clean water

STORAGE OF TREATED SEED
Seed treated with Raxil Star must be drilled within 7 months of the treatment application and within the season of treatment. The subsequent germination and performance of such seed may be adversely affected by physical storage conditions. No liability can therefore be accepted for the performance of stored, treated seed.

DRILLING OF TREATED SEED
It is essential to check drill calibration before use, and again for each seed lot drilled to ensure an accurate seed rate. Raxil Star treated seed should be drilled at 4 cm (1.5”) depth into a well prepared and firm seedbed providing optimal conditions for crop emergence and establishment. Adverse seedbed conditions such as very dry, fluffy, cloddy or capped seedbeds, waterlogging, drilling too deep or too shallow, the use of seed with low germination capacity/vigour and residual herbicides, can reduce the field emergence of cereals. This may be accentuated by Raxil Star.
