A systemic herbicide for post-emergence control of annual and perennial grass weeds in oilseed rape, sugar beet, fodder beet, mangels, potatoes, peas, winter and spring field beans, broad beans, swedes, cabbage, caulifl ower, Brussels sprouts, carrots, parsnips, onions, linseed, leeks, strawberries, ornamental bulbs and forestry.

An emulsifiable concentrate containing 100 g/litre (10.5% w/w) cycloxydim.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Stratos Ultra is a systemic herbicide. It controls most of the annual and perennial grasses in the listed crops as an overall spray. It is rapidly absorbed through the leaves and moves throughout the plant to the growing points. Decay occurs rapidly in the stems and roots.
Stratos Ultra acts principally through the foliage and it is, therefore, independent of soil type.
It is effective on grasses from the two leaf stage until the second node stage. Stratos Ultra is rainfast one hour after application.
Stratos Ultra should be applied post-weed emergence for control in the crops listed.

OILSEED RAPE, SUGAR BEET, FODDER BEET, MANGELS, POTATOES, PEAS, WINTER and SPRING FIELD BEANS, BRAD BEANS, SWEDES, CABBAGE, CAULIFLOWER, BRUSSELS SPROUT, CARROTS, PARSNIPS, PNIONS, LINSEED, LEEKS, STRAWBERRIES, ORNAMENTAL BULBS and FORESTRY
Weeds: Wild Oats, Perennial Ryegrass and Loose Silky Bent
Rate: 1.5 L/ha
Critical comments: timming of application - 2 leaf to second node.

Weeds: Black-grass, Barley, Durum Wheat, Italian Ryegrass, Oats (cultivated)
Rate: 2.0 L/ha
Critical comments: timming of application - 2 leaf to tillering

Weeds: Maize, Rye, Smooth Stalked Meadow Grass, Wheat and Triticale
Rate: 3.0 L/ha
Critical comments:  timming of application - Late tillering to second node

Weeds: Black Bent
Rate: 3.0 L/ha
Critical comments:  timming of application - 2 leaf to second node

Weeds: Scutch and Downy brome
Rate: 4.0 L/ha
Critical comments:  timming of application - 10–15 cm (4–6 inches) high, usually corresponding to the 3–9 fully expanded leaf stage.

Weeds: Scutch (Recommended for use in open canopied crops such as onions, fruit crops or where severe infestations of Scutch occur)
Rate: 2.0 L/ha
Critical comments: timming of application - Apply when Scutch competes with crop (not more than 10–15 cm tall). Apply when later emerging or re-sprouting Rhizomes are 10–15 cm tall.

Weeds: Scutch  (low levels of infestation where supression is required)
Rate: 3.0 L/ha
Critical comments: timming of application - 10–15 cm (4–6 inches) high, usually corresponding to the 3–9 fully expanded leaf stage.

All applications should be made as a FINE spray, as defined by BCPC, unless the highest water volumes are used when FINE or MEDIUM sprays are permissible.

Rate of Use
Grass weeds vary in their susceptibility to Stratos Ultra.
Winter and Spring Oilseed Rape:
Stratos Ultra may be applied from when the crop has fully expanded cotyledons until before the crop canopy prevents adequate spray penetration.
Sugar Beet, Fodder Beet and Mangels:
Stratos Ultra can be applied from the two true leaf stage of the crop until before the crop canopy prevents adequate spray penetration.
Potatoes:
Stratos Ultra may be applied at any crop stage before the crop canopy prevents adequate spray penetration.
Peas:
Stratos Ultra may be applied to all varieties of combine and vining peas.
Apply from the third node stage of the crop until before the crop canopy prevents adequate spray penetration.
A satisfactory crystal violet wax test (see PGRO information sheet 143) should be carried out if leaf wax may have been affected by unfavourable growing or weather conditions. Other post emergence crop protection products will also affect wax levels and a wax test may be necessary. Ideally, Stratos Ultra should follow applications of broad leaf herbicides, but where Stratos Ultra is applied before other products (i.e. because grass weeds are the major problem) it is essential to conduct a satisfactory crystal violet wax test before applying the next treatment.
Winter and Spring Field Beans and Broad Beans:
Stratos Ultra may be applied from the two leaf pairs stage of field beans and the three leaf pair stage of broad beans until before the crop canopy prevents adequate spray penetration.
Swede, Cabbage, Cauliflower and Brussels Sprouts:
Stratos Ultra may be applied from the two expanded leaf stage until before the crop canopy prevents adequate spray penetration.

Carrots and Parsnips:
Stratos Ultra may be applied from the two leaf stage of the crop until before the crop canopy prevents adequate spray penetration.
Bulb Onions, Salad Onions and Leeks:
Stratos Ultra may be applied from when the crop has two true leaves until before the crop canopy prevents adequate spray penetration. When used in sequence with post emergence products, ensure that leaf wax levels are adequate to afford protection for application of each product.

MIXING
Half fill the spray tank with clean water and start the agitation. Pour in the required amount of Stratos Ultra. Add the remainder of the water and continue agitation until spraying is completed. Rinse empty containers and empty into the tank.
When tank mixes are to be used, each product should be added separately to the spray tank, taking due note of any instructions given as to the order of mixing, (see Section 3).
Use in spray programmes
Stratos Ultra may be used in programmes with other herbicides for the crop to be treated provided there is a 7 day interval between application of Stratos Ultra and the other herbicide.

MIXTURES WITH OTHER SPRAY CHEMICALS
Compatible Mixtures
Provided that all product recommendations are followed, Stratos Ultra is fully compatible with any of the following in a two way mix. When mixing, add Stratos Ultra first, then adjuvant and finally the other component.
Aphox, Decis, Butisan S*, Goltix 1, Perfekthion and in three way mix with:
Butisan S + Decis
NOTES: Until further notice, do not use more than 2.5 litres/hectare Stratos Ultra in any of these mixtures except where indicated by ‘*’ when up to 4.0 litres/hectare may be used.

Apply when the first true leaves of the beet are at least 1 cm in length.
All tank mixtures should be used immediately after mixing.

Mixtures Known to be Incompatible
Stratos Ultra + MBC fungicides (carbendazim)
Stratos Ultra + phenmedipham
This list has been prepared in the light of information available at the time of publication.
Other mixtures not referred to here may also prove to be incompatible and it is therefore advisable not to use mixtures other than those listed as compatible in this text.
