CROPS
Vertisan can be used on all winter and spring crops of wheat, barley, rye and triticale. It may als be applied to barley undersown with grass/clover. Apply Vertisan under good growing conditions with adequate soil moisture. Avoid poor growing conditions which may give les reliable results.

DOSE
Apply Vertisan at 1.5 litre per hectare Vertisan must always be used in mixture with another product, recommended for control of the same target disease that contains a fungicide from a different cross resistance group and is applied at a dose that will give robust control.

VOLUME AND APPLICATION
Apply in 200 – 300 litres/ha of water using spraying equipment to give good even coverage of the crop. The higher volumes are recommended when the crop is dense. A spray pressure of 2 – 3 Bar is recommended.

TIMING
Best results will be achieved from applications made as a protectant treatment or in the earliest stages of disease development. Vertisan may be applied from the beginning of stem elongation (GS 30) u to the end of flowering (GS 69) on wheat, barley, rye and triticale. Up to a maximum of 2 treatment may be made. If a second treatment is required, this may be applied after 21 days.

COMPATIBILITY
Products should only be tank-mixed if each product can be applied within the label recommendations for its use. For Further information contact you DuPont distributor.

MIXING
Ensure that the sprayer is clean and correctly set to give an even application at the required volume. Half-fill the spray tank with clean water and start agitation. Shake the container and add the required amount of Vertisan to the sprayer using a filling device (e.g. induction bowl or closed transfer unit) or by direct addition to the sprayer tank. Wash out containers thoroughly, preferably using an integrated pressure rinsing device, or manually rinse three times. Add washing to the sprayer at the time of filling. Complete filing t the required volume and continue to agitate troughut the spraying operation. Do not leave the spray liquid in the sprayer for long periods (such as during meal breaks or overnight). Follow the Good practice guide for empty pesticide containers.

RESTRICTIONS
Vertisan should not be applied to any crop suffering from stress as a result of drought, waterlogging, low temperatures, nutrient or lime deficiency or other factors reducing crop growth.
Avoid application in either frosty or hot, sunny weather conditions.
Up to 2 treatments may be applied per crop.
Only apply Vertisan in tank-mixture with othe fungicides (see ‘DOSE’)

DISEASE CONTROL
Vertisan contains penthiopyrad, a brad-spectrum fungicide from the carboxamide group. Carboxamides are classified as succinate dehydrogenease inhibitor (SDHI) by the Fungicide Resistance Action Committee (FRAC). Penthiopyrad inhibits fungal respiration and should be used in mixtures with fungicides with other modes of action. Vertisan shows good crop safety, disease control and maintenance of green leaf area which results in significant yield benefits. Vertisan has activity on the following diseases and is best used as a protectant treatment r in the earliest of disease development.

RESISTANCE
Vertisan contains penthiopyrad, a member of the SDHI cross resistance group of fungicides. Vertisan should be used preventatively or at the early stage of disease development. Use Vertisan as part of an Integrated Crop Management (ICM) strategy incorporating other methods of control including where appropriate other fungicides with different mode of action. Disease control may be reduced if strains of pathogens less sensitive to penthiopyrad develop.
When fungicides with the same mode of action are used repeatedly over several years in the same field, naturally occurring less sensitive strains may survive, propagate and become dominant in that field. A pathogen is considered resistant to a fungicide if it survives a correctly applied treatment at a recommended dose and timing, under normal weather conditions.
